Yankee Trout,Sorta Part II 8 15 18

Wifey and I thoroughly enjoyed our very last day in the absolutely breath-taking Ozarks, eating nice breakfast, loading up truck and heading for the world-renown little city of Cotter(locals call it trout capitol of the world, for very good reason). We met a young fellow and his almost 4 year old daughter and he was tossing white PowerBait, watched me nab quite a few fat rainbows that slipped outta my hands(they are incredibly strong and slimy)and they were crushing Rebel crawfish crankbait with a vengeance and I did not have too much arm-twisting to convince him to tie on Rebel he had in his tackle box(never used)!!Wifey and I took all of about two hours to manage to nab ten fat and feisty rainbows and I woulda taken pic of last day haul but needed to gut em and pack em on ice for long haul home.We thoroughly enjoyed our annual Ozarks trip, this may have been best ever and we did try pristine Mirror Lake one day,not any luck at all and much more challenging and fun nabbing wild rainbows in world-class White River. They absolutely crush crawfish crankbaits, makes perfect sense since crawfish big part of their diet and there are tons of big crawfish plying the banks of the White River. We met some absolutely gems of folks and want to possibly get us a piece of the Ozarks to call our own!!Might try deer hunting there as we met a fly-fisherman(on his very first fly-fishing trip)who advised that Arkansas has estimated their deer herd at over a million(no reason to dispute that, based upon the quantity of deer we saw)!!Probably headed back next April, possibly sooner and the gent we met with his daughter caught close to a two-person limit as well!!

Mandevillian, never will forget the thrill of watching smallmouths and rainbows crush Rebel crankbaits!!
