I went fishing about 3 weeks ago in the section from Lake Borgne to Bayou Villere, caught a few small reds, a couple white trout, and lots of hard heads, all on dead shrimp or shrimp creole matrix. Threw just about every bait in my tackle box trying to find a speck but no luck.

Lots of pogies & crabs in the area and people shrimping.

Went inside the lock also and caught a few bass right at the lock and in the small canal next to it.

Had the pleasure of seeing a spike and a doe also on the levee there, was pretty cool, never considered that there would be deer there.

Weather is a completely different animal compared to three weeks ago though.

I fished in those exact spots this last weekend and only caught 3 puppy drum and a sheep head. There were a ton of boats there with us and they weren't catching anything either. I will say though that the lock was closed and there wasn't much water movement which probably had a lot to do with the poor fishing. Also, about 3 weeks ago 2 of my buddies went outside this lock and caught 50 white trout and a limit of red fish. I think this cool front that is passing through now and the storm that just passed should help us with better fishing these next few weeks. Good Luck!

No problem! I also passed by there on my way back to the marina last weekend and saw about 4-5 boats stacked up right as you turn in the canal going towards violet. They must have come up on a school or somethin cause they were anchored right dead smack in the middle of the canal id say less than 100 yds in.
