Had very slight window of opportunity and seized it,hit favorite oak-filled slough in Honey Island and only emerged with two fat tree rats(ole trusty Beretta Extrema acting up-think hammer spring weak)and she would only give me two shooting opportunities and I got both tree rats I was able to get shots at.Had gun professionally water-transfer dipped over year ago, going on two years and my gunsmith was checking her out and noticed some rusting near piston on trigger, said de original Berettas had some issues with dual-piston hammer mechanism and he will go over her(thank God this happened about two weeks prior to opening of duck season)!!!He showed me built-up powder residue in two distinct spots in barrel from 3 inch and 2.75 inch shells(rarely use 3.5's)and he went over barrel with wirebrush and will get barrel mirror-smooth and get trigger mechanism done as well!!At least I emerged with two tree rats, saw at least 6 and only got firing opportunities on the two I nailed(2.75 #5 lead knocks em dead)!!!

decoymaker,Thanks for texting me and hope my gunsmith can assist you.He has done some great work for me and my collection of guns and always very fair with respect to pricing, service, etc. He prefers to work via word of mouth and I do not blame him, hope to get Beretta back in time for duck season.Just got off phone with one of my many Medicare clients that loves hunting/fishing as much as me and we might chase some dem tree rats next week!!!

Had slightest window of opportunity available today before afternoon client meetings and hit favorite sloughs in Honey Island Swamp, armed with trusty ole BPS from around 1996(Beretta Extrema at gunsmith getting trigger mechanism Parkerized and new pin installed)and took only one shot at unsuspecting fat tree rat and dropped him like a parachute and only saw three more, they saw or heard me ahead of time and bolted!!!Talked to Game Warden on my way out and he said the average tree rat take has been bout 3,so last week, when I shoulda had 5 and today, when had I been a tad more stealthy, shoulda had two more and I woulda been right at the 3 tree rats/hunt average!!Today's guy was a nice older male and need one more for Wifey to make her incredible squirrel stew.Hope the Youth Duck Hunters do well Sat in East Zone and getting geared up for next week's Opener.

Me and dear Medicare Client hit one of my favorite Honey Island Swamp sloughs this am,armed and ready for whatever tree rats we could stumble upon and he has a brand-new Charles Daly 12 guage auto-loader and I had my ole BPS,got ole Beretta Extrema awaiting another part for trigger mechanism!!Only saw a few tree rats, got shot at one fat female and my Client saw a few but did not get any decent shooting opportunities!!Loves his Charles Daly and I am cautiously optimistic dat Beretta gonna be ready to roll some ducks this week end!!
