Re: Sac a lait
Have not yet tried but with the extremely disappointing duck season about over, will head to some T-Funky spots sure to have some slabs, lost a good 2+ lb beast just last year and know where he hangs out!!

Glad to see some reports, questions, etc..on sacalait. I let my first cork and jig hit water for the new year last Friday while coming home to Kenner from Hammond. I stopped at a outlet on Highway 51 between Manchac and Ruddock and picked up a few. It's early but some are catchable from bank so I'll be putting the boat in later this week

Panfish Seeker,Thanks for the up-to-date sac a lait report.Recently got firing issues resolved on my Southfork flat with 50 hp Johnson(now again a beast)and will wait a while for some of the NShore rivers to slightly recede before even attempting to nab some slabs.Met sac a lait expert about a year ago and when I saw him fishing same areas as me I suspected I was in de right spot(s)!!I actually love pirogue fishing and it is about as stealthy as possible but not as easy on hook-set!!Great-eating fish, there!!!

What bridges? You fish weekdays or weekends? I have a boat and fish alone a lot.

Work and weather have kept me from fishing. I might go tomorrow for a few hours after church. See if I can hit a few

Panfish Seeker,Got a nice report from a gent the specializes in slabs on T-Funky and he had some chunks, did not ask if he used minnows but I kinda doubt it.I love jigging for them and have a buddy from Abita KC's that wants to go,possibly Th and we should scare up a few to stink up de grease!!!

P.S. Also got nice report from Bayou Lacombe with similar results though I am not as familiar wit where the Bayou Lacombe slabs tend to hang out.Bet along the banks nestled amongst the numerous cypress knees!!!

Thanks for the info Mandevillian. I jig and throw spinners. I went under I55 for about 2 hrs. yesterday and I didn't catch but 4 sacs and 2 green trout. The water looked good but was very low. I hope this front and change in wind improves that as I'm going to try it again on Friday (day off).

It depends on what area you're in official variety of areas but anyway there's a bridge in the water looks good it's just the trick is to get underneath there's a few bridges in chackbay and then there's plenty of them in Houma the water does have to be really that clean i when it to clean i find that look a bait to to long sometime thay will stop bite so you try different colors and a shine of sometimes does pretty good but I find it bite better on the artificial tube jig what a crappie Nibbler on it

Quinton,That is my pet name for the Tchefuncte,a sac a lait magnet. There are a few launches to access it,one at the end of 3 Rivers Rd not that far from Tulane Primate Center and a launch at 4th Street, not that far from St.Paul's High School. The sac a lait spawn is pretty close to happening and that is the opportune time to target them fine-eating fish in the shallows and all it takes is a few tube jigs, sliding cork,Crappie Psychic trailers, and Crappie Nibbles, awesome combination!!Good luck and plenty of spots to scope out.Whenever I run into a few of the T-Funky masters,I know I must have stumbled upon a sac a lait run or two!!
