35 whelen ammo choice?

Reply
Was wondering if anyone is shooting a cva hunter in .35 whelen and if so what ammo shoots the best out of it for you? Thanks

Best two I've found are the Barnes 180 gr. and the federal fusion 200 gr. I really like the Barnes excellent accuracy pass 100 yds. and hits like a truck!

I'll second the Barnes 180's and Federal Fusion 200's. I've never had any luck with the Hornady Superformance bullets, I think it's too much for the CVA to handle.

Thanks for the response, I currently have the hornady 200g and I not overly impressed with the accuracy I’m going to try the Barnes 180g hopefully can get better groupings

My CVA & my TC both shoot the 180 Barnes very well.

I have several rifles that shoot Hornadys well and have killed a lot of Dangerous game in Africa with Hornady ammo, but my primitive season Whelens just shoot the Barnes the best.

Have 35 whelen cva shot the super performance and the casing cracked once and the other times towards the bottom of the casing had a line all the way around no one could really explain it went to federal

This is what the Hornady did in my CVA 35 Whelen.

That’s crazy, I didn’t have those kind of probs with the hornady they just were not very consistent with accuracy. I ended up getting the 180g Barnes and there awesome very satisfied with the accuracy!

Barnes vortex 180 has been the best shooter for me and works very well on deer.
