Well duck season 2018-2019 has come to a close. All in all we are thankful for the opportunities we had this year. It was a poor migration year because of all the rainfall up and down the flyway and the lack of major cold weather. But we still shot quite a few ducks and we are already looking forward to next year.

The fishing is just getting started for 2019. Right now the redfish are fired up and we have been catching them consistently. Trout have taken a hiatus at the moment but any rises in water temps will put trout on the menu too. If you follow me, you know that catching speckled trout is always my first priority so I am always eager to get on them when they turn on.

That’s not to say that redfish aren’t fun too, and man they are biting right now. Redfish are fun to target in the colder months as we often find them bunched up in deeper channels or in the middle of ponds in schools. My clients love casting out a Campo’s live shrimp into a school of redfish. A couple pops of the cork and it shoots down with a hungry red on the end of the line.

This is a great time to come fishing with me in Louisiana because our Mardi Gras season is just getting started. You can enjoy the festivities in New Orleans and then head down to Shell Beach to stay with me and go on a world-class fishing trip.

As always, if you would like to book a hunt or schedule a fishing trip you can contact me, Capt. Jimmy Corley by phone at (504) 258-4431 or by email at cap.jimmy.corley@gmail.com.
