Orange grove gated and closed off

getting to be you can not find a place to fish bass in houma. they closed lake theriot a long time ago now they closed orange grove. i thought they could not block a major waterway from public use. orange grove is not a man made canal but some oil company bought it and put up a gate so you can not fish it anymore when will all this stop.

They won't they are going to take all the food fishing spots away from us . Just so their pocket book gets fatter . It is supposed to be sportsman paradise but it not . And the government is doing the same thing to us too. Pretty soon they might start charging you to use a boat lunch too.

do not know where you live but we have 3 good boat launches here in houma and we already got to pay 5 dollars at one and 10 dollars at the others. 2 private owned one owned by the parish.

and one more thing a lot of people used orange grove to take there kids perch jerken and have a family day and some people made there living cat fishing and crabing in those canals.

Do you know where the gate is? I passed today to fish 70 mile an I didn’t see anything down main bayou by well cribbing. I didn’t attempt to go back their. I had saw you’re report an didn’t waste my time. But yes very sad if they close it. Very close to my house to make quick trips.

i went yesterday to orange grove and they got it blocked off way in the back. they had some signs and all up in front for a while but nothen there now. guess they decided just to block off in the back. was glad to see that we still had places to fish in there. a company with common since go figure

That’s good. I know the Antil side of orange grove has been off limits. I had seen the signs since late summer/ fall at the mouths of canals. I hope it stays open. Did any good back there? I only got 7 bass in 70 mile.

i only got one bite in orange grove. water was clear but high. water temp. was 56. i tried spinner bait. top water, jerk bait, all kinds of plastic baits. went different places in orange grove back to lake hatch and down minors canal to lake decade. only thing i did was burn 12 gallons of gas. first cast at 6;15 am last at 10 am.

Nothing in clean water. Last few trips everything been in muddy water. It’s been weird past few months. You would think clean water would be better but it’s not. Caught some on spinner bait an others punching.

La. is the only state in the United States that can block off canels. Thanks to our politisons.
