Little Lake Beat Down

On Thursday March 14, 2019 our annual fishin trip with Capt Joel Barras of Bayou Counrty Charters out of Fish Inn Lafitte, LA. (504-881-6016) came a little early this year as we had family in from Arizona that wanted to sample some of Louisiana's finest red fishin.
With a stiff 15 mph breeze blowing, we left the dock at first light and headed toward Little Lake. The open areas where way to rough and windy to fish as we searched for some sheltered areas. Fishing started slow and the wind continued to blow but Capt Joel was not about to send one of his clients back to Arizona without a story to tell and a picture to back it up. We jumped from island to island and picked up some red fish here and some black drum there until we put together a nice mixed bag of fish. Before we finished everyone onboard had caught some fish, had a picture taken to show off, and heard some funny jokes and thrilling stories from Capt Joels years on the water. The ride home is where the beat down happened with the winds gusting to 35 mph (I actually think it was much higher than that but he didn't want to worry the Arizonians onboard). We survived a white knuckle crossing of Little Lake (didn't seem little at the time). Now the captain claimed that everyone onboard getting wet wasn't his fault but I have to wonder if that isn't a captains revenge for making them go fishin on such a miserable day. Bottom line we had a AWESOME time fishing, everything was done in a safe, professional manner and we made family memories that will last a lifetime. Thank You Capt Joel …
