Wanting to bring the wife and kids down to the beach for a weekend camping trip. I need to know if I can drive on the beach and pitch a tent on elmers island? Or if not on elmers island where can I? Preferably on the western side of the island. Any advice would be appreciated..... also I plan on bringing my boat along and putting in at the Irvin p melancon landing and heading east down the main channle to fish the marsh and pipe line canals on the north side of the beach. Never fished the area before but a co worker told me to check it out. Has any body else had any luck there lately. If so what's biting ? Have the specs moved in yet ?

Thanks

no driving vehicles on beach at all. u can drive up to pilings that block entrance and thereafter walk or ride a bike on to beach

Yea I just saw that and then I see this... so I guess it would be a gamble. Is any body from the area that could tell me how strictly it\'s enforced ? Also how far to the west does the elmers beach property go? because I\'m thinking about just going in by boat on the north side of the beach

Not sure how old that statement is...talking about swimming and all...but unless you can drive through wooden pilings I'd say that it is to old to go by. Last time I was there (last spring) you could not drive on the beach and overnight camping was NOT allowed. You can drive to a small parking area and walk to the water and all the way down to Caminada (2 miles or so) but it will be carrying or towing your gear by hand. Park opened a little before sunrise and closed an little after sunset.

Thanks man. I think I got a plan together. The map shows that the elmers property line only goes one mile west of the access road. I'm just Gonna pull my boat up to the back side of the beach on the other side of their property line
