Jay and Deanna Hasler came down from Indiana for their first Louisiana fishing trip. Great people and great times catching fish. Trout, pompano, redfish, jacks, channel mullets, sheepshead were all caught this day. At the first stop we had trout first but then the pompano took over and we caught 20 of them along with 14 trout before I said we needed to leave. They told me that they couldn't believe how much fish could be caught down here. I said you ain't seen nothing yet. Second stop thanks to Capt. Eric Pellegrin was the big ticket for the day. We had big trout coming in as fast as we could throw. Deanna was tossing live shrimp and Jim was steady at it with the Berkley Grass Pig in Swamp Gas color. Just then a school of reds and jacks come passing by and with 2 casts it was a red and a jack. Deanna had the jack and it took her about 45 minutes to land it. Biggest fish of her life. We left that spot and tested another spot and topped off the limit with a couple of trout. Deanna said she would like to see a rosette spoonbill so I went by the nesting island and there were about 50 of them there for her to see. What a way to show great people what South Louisiana has to offer. They will be back. Give me a call for your day on the water.
