Captain Bob Leeville Report

Hello again Cyber Anglers,

Fished out of Boudreaux’s Waterfront Motel in Leeville Thursday and was met with a filling Full Moon and a building east southeast wind. As I headed across Little Lake to Deep Bayou, I could see choppy conditions in outside, open water.

The water at the Deep Bayou rocks was Gulf green, bait filled and nervous. I could not believe there were no boats there. I crept in and anchored on the inside of the rocks so I could fish with the wind at my back, easily casting into the pipeline trench where I had marked fish. It was on!

All of my fish came on Carolina rigged, large cocahoes and finger Mullet. As the wind increased boats started returning from the choppy outside waters and noticed my position and decided to join in on the catching. The Helipad, the camp pilings, and the mouth of Grand Bayou Blue all produced for Anglers who stopped in the Deep Bayou area.

The bite ended at noon just as the big Sharks moved in. I headed in as the wind was building. All of the action was filmed and can be found on episode 1554 of Between the Banks, already up on my YouTube channel (search Bob Gourgues), on betweenthebanks.com, and starts daily on television venues this weekend.

The Specks are gorging in advance of Spawning and it is on and will continue thru Summer. Come down and enjoy this wonderful time of year. Additional help available on the BTB fishing line at 504.458.9451. In the meantime good luck fishing...Bob
