Trout and Redfish in Grand Isle!

Trout fishing in a Grand Isle has been pretty good this summer. If it weren?t for the D&#@ porpoises, it would have been incredible a couple of times. Still had a couple of excellent days though!

I want to try fishing grand isle. I heard there’s a rock wall community hole where you can catch specs. Where is this rock wall? Any tips or places you want to share for specs or reds?

The rocks all along the back side of GI hold fish all summer, as well as the beaches. I find Grande Terre and Elmers beaches better than GI, but the fish are constantly moving between Fourchon and Grand Terre.

Man who know the best part of the redfish. The throat meat. Great job and now I’m hungry after seeing that 5 Star meal. 🤪🤪🤪

You have to take these reports with a grain of salt because you do not know when the fish were actually caught. The fishing was good in Grand Isle earlier this year, but for the last 3-4 weeks it has been off. I am not sure why it turned off but I suspect a lot of freshwater in Barataria Bay and on the beaches have the fish migrating to find the saltier water.

5/18, 6/1, 6/15. Throats are definitely the best! I also heard the bite was off in GI. However, I had a buddy crush them out of Fourchon Friday and Saturday this past weekend. The trout definitely move up and down the coast all summer, as I noted earlier. Camp Abel was hot, then the Fourchon Barges, then the beaches, then the backside of the islands. This was not meant as an advertisement for what’s happening now, book a charter w me post. This is an early summer recap!

I wouldn't go as far as saying the bite has turned off. I know a few people who caught limits this week off of Elmer's Island beach. Ill be down there tonight myself!

When you see the size of the fish get small and lots of catfish show up you know its getting close to then end of the season. That's when 9 out of 10 are throwbacks.
