Mitigating Property Help

Reply

I am submitting a Joint Permit in order to bulkhead a piece of waterfront property in DuLarge. One of the things that I have to submit is a detailed drawing of the property with all of the details of construction. The examples given seem to all be done by a draftsman (very detailed), but the instructions allow hand drawn true to scale drawings. Does anyone know of an easier or cheaper way than hiring a draftsman to produce these drawings. The surveyor told me that I could take his file of the property and use Auto Cad. I am not familiar with Auto cad. Thanks Doug 985-860-3163

Re: Mitigating Property Help
Doug, I have done this with hand sketches and was excepted without any problems. Just detail everything out and put measurements showing size of items needed. You also should have a main contact person who is working the permit that could help and assist you with questions and guidance. Hope this helps, it's a pain to get this done!

Thank you for the info. I will look over some of the other permits to see examples of drawings. I will also research autocad just in case. I was warned not to make mistakes because it will add a lot more time to the process. Doug,

Doug,
You might try something like Microsoft Visio that is a bit easier to use and has some measurement, scale, and diagramming capabilities.

I'd be interested to learn about your bulk head project as i think we have one in our future on the marsh side of LA 315 down there.

Thanks and good luck.

I'll look into that. I have to do a joint permit because a portion of my lot is wet. The ditch on side of the Brady road stays full of water because it has no where to go. I need to build a driveway across that wet area and I'm sure that I will have to pay a premium price. I'll keep a log of what I have to do. I heard it will take over a year to get approval. Doug,

I had to do the same for wet lands area down in Lafitte. It took about 4 months to get approved, but that was 7 years ago.

Yesterday I found out how to go on the DNR site and find old file\'s from other Permits in my area. All of them seam like a long process. I want to build my own driveway across the wet area that was created mostly by the road and ditch that holds the water. Reading through the permits looks like I will be lucky to do so without dumping a fortune. I will have to dredge a good bit from the canal into the good dry land and then bulkhead. I would like to use the spoils to raise the low area.

I use a software application called Terrain Navigator Pro for forest management work that is compatible with various mapping file formats. This might be of use for your situation. You can find more about it at www.catenaut.com/tnp
