2nd Weekend Teal Report

Date Hunted 9/20/19:

Two friends of mine went back to one of the spots we hunted last weekend and shot 4 teal this evening. The report I got was they had 6 overall come in, three each in two flights and were able to shoot 4. We will be at it in the morning. Hopefully the breeze stays blowing and we get some shots.

Three boats left the camp. Had a good breeze and a little bit of light rain. Good weather for a teal hunt. Only problem was the teal part. Nobody shot a teal for the hunt, none. Obviously there was very little flying around in the sky but to get skunked is tough.

Evening hunt.

Tried another spot and ended up with one teal off of very little action. We did see several flights of teal than in the morning bucking the trend of mornings usually being better than evenings.

Date hunted 9/22/19:

Very still conditions for the start of the hunt and high water, tide is probably two feet above normal. After a while in the hunt there were two motled ducks coming straight at us which is not unusual during teal season. As they came right over the decoys there was a teal following them, one teal down. Then later 3 teal came in and we got the three. That was it, four for the day. We did see some low flying flocks that could have came our way but they didn't want to come in.

Been a tough one for many in SE La, myself included. There are pockets of success in certain habitats where the birds are congregating, but outside of that, been tough sledding.
