De Nuck and Futz duckbusters had today to try to redeem ourselves and try our best to get tad closer to 'X' and we scoped out nice area tad S of where we had hunted and it was mottled duck central, wood duck central and tree ducks in flocks of up to about 40 per flock and I did come somewhat close to imitating their call using widgeon/wood duck whistle and hope they stick around til Regular Duck Season.I thoroughly enjoy teal season, never count on limits,at least not where we hunt and I hunt for fun and food, not overly concerned about limits(if I were that concerned about limits, think I would have to take up another hobby!!!).We did get blessed with three single teal that came in and came home with us and I was cursed with 2 that I easily shoulda dropped but guess de ole shooting skills mighty rusty from lack of not only right targets to shoot but lack of opportunities and my deer lease a perfect place to tune up skills til Oct 1st!!!Got de ole Southfork up to about 29.5 mph with the two of us and two Chapman pirogues and cover material and decoys so she aint running too shabby, just the exact opposite, running superbly and lower unit rebuild was exactly what de doctor ordered!!Next up fishing and scouting some fine areas that we have been wanting to explore and got plenty of spots that are so remote little chance of much pressure!!!Gonna get us more fine giant palmetto branches, absolute best way to totally conceal hunters and keep wary waterfowl eyes from detecting hunter!!Hope Saints destroy ole Jerry Jones' Cowgirls!!!

Yeah I'm seeing a lot of Mexican whistlers around the Amite river swamp this year. I too hope they are still around when duck season opens. Something to shoot besides the local Woodies and hoodies.

Steelsprayer,We saw some incredible flocks of Tree Ducks probably up to 50 or 60 per flock and I have yet to see any in Regular Duck Season and have a buddy who hunts Delacroix and he sees them in Regular Duck Season.I know for a fact that folks not far from where I hunt/fish feed these ducks and that alone should bode well for them sticking around.Just by pure happenstance(happens to me somewhat on regular basis),I met a lady whose boyfriend is an avid Lake P fisherman and deer hunter and she said she has eaten those Tree Ducks and they are incredibly delicious according too her!!!Hope the woodies decoy like they have and I love practicing calling and have called in a few pairs of mottled ducks(hope dat happens in Regular Duck Season)!!Off to Academy to pick up some MirroDines to nab fat specks locally!!!

Got another tip on soft plastic lures, one I used to use just about exclusively(was wearing out 3 lb Causeway specks many, many moons ago on this fine Fin-S Fish lure-Lunker City source).Guy we ran into this past Sat probably gonna get mad at de Mandevillian for giving dis tip but got plenty of bass folks tossing em and know of a few Lake P Legends dat would NEVER leave de dock without ole Fin-S Fish and some Chartreuse Spike it to dye de tails, makes a huge difference go out and toss some and see what de Mandevillian and a certain select group of fisherman have been doing for YEARS!!!
