Lake p

Reply
TEAM JO-JO:

A whistle blower (WB) contacted me, he had some second, third, and 4th hand Intel, his complaint / concern was that the Silverwonders are back in Lake P. Me question the authenticity of his knowledge, but he assured me it came from a very credible source / induvial who had 5th hand knowledge of the alleged fish story. He indicated he could not confirm any “quid pro quo” took place to gain this knowledge, but he did offer to go with me to confirm the Intel.
Me crew for today be Big PJ (not WB) we running round Lake P in the Bay Flat Jr in the AM looking for some action.

SIGNS:

• Too much time on me hands
• Meet up for 6 AM
• Bay Flat Jr would be our water taxi
• We took the back way to Lake P under the Hwy 11, I-10, and service road bridges, if we were out for mullets we could have sunk many boast with fish, they were all over the place.
• Saw (2) Kayas fishing the shoreline
• Had 2 boast at the south end of the tracks
• Bai all over / in the water
• Pelicans cruising the trestles, good sign
• Opportunity came for a trip, so me took it
• Took forever. (25-40 pulls) to start the Yamaha Nightmare Machine if I did not like it so much me would throw it overboard

CONDITIONS:

• Perfect
• E.S.E. wind calm all day, just a breeze
• Calm seas
• Sunny & clear
• Mild temps
• Water level down 10-13”
• Water Temp in eh 80’s F
• Water clarity on a scale of 1-7 was a solid 4, sill had that brown look to it.
• Tide, rising all morning, was hoping it would stop and turn around.
• (2) Boats out and about

TECHNIQUE / STRATEGY:

• Be safe
• Have fun
• Put some run time on Bay Flat Jr. and Yamaha Nightmare Machine
• This be me daily therapy for ALL me aliments
• Gather Intel for future trips, and to share with fisherperson, (on rodnreel.com) to help assist them in their choice of areas to fish, lures to use and presentation of same to the elusive Silverwonders.
• Check out (WB) complaint / concern, get conformation of same.
• Check water condition
• See if trolling would produce some bites
• Take care of the big itch Big PJ & Oneofthepack had to go fishing.
• Find a spot # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:
1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (What wind)
2 MOVING WATER: (Had plenty, rising all morning, may have been a little too much strong current, need for it to stop and turn around.)
3 WATER CALRITY: (Good, very fishable, clean, clear, but with a little brown look to it)
4 HOLDING FISH: ( 2nd fire break from south)
5 PATIENTS: (None needed not much action, but we be trolling and you never know when / what might happen, Big PJ busy tying lines)
6 SKILL: (Getting the knack of trolling Lake P & the trestles)
7 LUCK: (Finding A fish)
• Anchor up cast & retrieve slowly along the bottom, with a twitch every now and then, tight lining…………………………………NOTHING
• Drift with the wind cast & retrieve (DWWC&R)……………DID NOT TRY
• Oak River Troll (ORT)………………..DID NOT TRY
• Reverse Oak River Troll (RORT) ………..DID NTO TRY
• Oak River Skim (ORS) ……………DID NOT TRY
• Cork ……..DID NOT TRY
• Lake P Troll (LPT)……………(1) REDWORRIER
• Dead bait………NONE
• Live bait…………………NONE

• LURE DU JOURE:

• 3” H&H Purple Beetle, matched up with H&H ¼ oz. round white head with gold hook…………….NOTHING!!!!!!!
• 3” Chartreuse Glow Beetle, matched up with H&H ¼ oz. round white head w/gold hook………….DID NOT TRY
• Matrix Shad Lemon Drop, matched up with H&H ¼ oz. round white head w/gold hook……………NOTHING!!!!!!!!
• Matrix Shad Lemon Drop, matched up with H&H 3/8 oz. round white head w/gold hook……………DID NOT TRY
• Matrix Shad Lemon Drop, matched up with H&H 1/2 oz. round white head w/gold hook……………DID NOT TRY
• Matrix Shad PURPEL HAZE, matched up with 3/4 oz. round lead head ………(1) REDWORRIER
• Marker 54 hard plastic shrimp……….. DID NOT TRY

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS OF THE MAP FISHED:

Spot # south shore, (west side of trestles) out to 2 ½ fire breaks to the north, trolled up and down, back & forth.

OUR REWARDS:

• Lived to fish another day
• (0) Silverwonders
• (1) Redworries
• Morning on the water
• Smooth sailing
• Got to try put some new diving lures
• Being on the water with one of the best fisherperson me know, that be Big PJ
• Had some great donuts at new donut place, along with some good hot coffee on the way back home, fish not biting, but Team Jo-Jo was, like we were trying to fatten up for the winter.
• Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Me guess, you guess, with only one fish caught, it not be a hard decision on who be fisherperson of the day, but it would not be who you think.

SUGGESTIONS:

Me think a little more time needed for Lake P to turn on, grass needs to go, water needs to clean up a little more, and some salt water needs to move back in. The owner of the boat launch indicated November they be back, he will start having live shrimp than too.

PONDER OF THE DAY:

If at first you don’t catch, fish, fish, and fish again.

Q&A:

Where is the line between fishing and not catching?

TEAM JO-JO’S FUTURE STRATAGEM:

10/3/19 me next plan trip, Yank coming down to enjoy all that our Disney World known as Delacroix Island has to offer, until then:
Good Fishing

Think ole Lady P tossed ya a wicked curve and she can be a fickle ole gal but ya gotta try other spots besides where all dem boats striking out!!!Not exactly sure where dem specks have been caught but I did get some first-hand intel on HUGE specks getting nabbed with MirroDines, not anyone's soft plastic du jour!!!Just my humble 0.02!!

Wait til de Causeway catches fire, get ya some Fin-S Fish lures(Lunker City.Com)dye dem tails with Chartreuse Spike It and hang on as when dem fat and sassy specks nab dem fine lures, hang on my friend-de Causeway a lot trickier to fish than Trestles but got ya 24 miles to explore and concentrate ya efforts at the cross-overs and ya might nab some fine reds in de process-I have not had a decent chance to fish lately but dat gonna change pronto!!

One of de Pack,Ole Lady P has indeed turned on judging by what I have been hearing and witnessed her giving up some decent specks today,ya gotta try some different lures like what an anonymous Lake P expert turned me on to and possibly stray from ya comfort zone and try Wiz's wakebaits.had back-to-back small specks gobble wakebait and my fishing buddy today caught at least 7-9 specks on MirroDine mullet-looking lure, makes perfect sense and the wakebait I used looked exactly like mullet-match de hatch!!!Found dem wakebaits, thanks to TheWizard7,and run no more than $3.99 each-ty em ya gonna be hooked just like dem specks!!!
