Have two Chapman pirogues, one circa 1982 probably one of the first Ron Chapman made and I am getting her and another, much newer one, ready for action and wanted to put pic of ole gal on Sportsman.Ordered camo stencil kit and plan to get her ready for action in time for both Coastal Opener as well as East Zone Opener,my normal hunting zone.Probably gonna seek mid-week hunt in Coastal Opener as where we typically hunt Coastal Zone(Pearl River WMA),Opening day quite crowded and would prefer to seek non-pressured quarry a few days post Opener.Have gotten some great intel from some very accommodating folks and share info with these folks and hope springs eternal!!!Have been hearing that our winter supposed to be bitter one and hope we get influx of waterfowl like we used to routinely get and have incredible amount of feed in ponds I have scouted!!Let's keep our fingers crossed!!

Got interior sanded, fixed two small cracks, not at all unusual considering the age of this ole gal, painted interior and just got e-mail notification that 3-part camo stencil should be arriving today just in time for me to do custom camo job on ole gal.Lotta memories in this ole pirogue and the gunwales are actually third set as first set of cypress gunwales rotted out many, many moons ago, replaced them at least 13 years ago with pressure-treated custom cut gunwales and those were replaced just last year and she is strong as an ox and a tad heavier than my newer one but way more sturdy.Took 16 ft two by fours,pressure-treated,cut em to much thinner dimensions and cut nice groove down center and used plenty of 3M 5200 adhesive to get gunwales about as bullet-proof as she can be and can't wait to give her even more warpaint!!!Hearing that some big ducks hanging out in some select areas of where we hunt and taking older son and grandson fishing possibly this TH!!

Steelsprayer,Thanks and I did manage just one fine drake Woodie last season but the hatch with respect to woodies was incredible, judging on the flocks and flocks of woodies we saw this past Teal Season. For those years when Arkansas froze up right at the end of the season,we saw many mallards and did manage a few those seasons!!!Hope always springs eternal,as far as I am concerned and I will do my part to thoroughly scout and blind up as well as I can and see what happens!!!Good luck this season!!
