I typically fish wind conditions more than tides. Basically meaning I’m fishing leeward sides of lakes and bays unless there is no wind or very little. As long as the tide is moving I’m usually happy. With that said if there is no wind or very little wind and I can fish anywhere, I usually focus more on prominent points rather than cuts, reefs that are located more away from cuts or in the middle of lakes and bays, and if I do fish cuts I’ll fish them on south side of lakes and bays where the water is flowing into a lake or bay. What I find mostly this time of year the trout will feed more heavily on falling tides so regardless of what you’re doing on an incoming tide the bite might not be as good. I typically find trout stack up on falling tides in or very close to cuts that have water coming out of the marsh and feed heavy on shrimp, as the tide slows, those fish spread out. So if you have a reef 100 yards away from a cut I typically will find a better bite on incoming tides in those areas. If all else fails don’t over analyze it, keep moving trying different methods and when you find one that works try to mimic what you did.
