Delacoix Opening Morning Results

I did not book any hunts for opening weekend to allow myself to take my dad. I can?t count how many hunts we have made together but it will never be enough. We ended with mostly teal, a Mottled duck and redheads for the morning. My cousins killed another two man limit of all teal and one grey. The reports I heard from other Delacroix hunters were mixed. Spent the afternoon building another blind to increase our options throughout the season. Now we are just sitting by a fire watching LSU dominate. My dad and I are getting after them again in the morning. If interested in making a hunt this season let me know. I still have some weekend and weekday availability. Good luck to all and stay safe on the water.

Since I didn’t have a guided trip on Sunday, I decided to use the day as a scouting trip and hunted another area further outside. It was a slower day for me, only coming in with 4. My cousins who hunted where we did on Saturday had another good day with the teal and from what we saw on the way in there were more ducks in that area. I needed to see what was going on in other sections of our property. Getting ready for the guided trips and the rest of the family hunting involves lots of scouting as well. Hope everyone had a safe and bountiful opening weekend. Looks like another big front this week to hopefully bring down another push of ducks.

Scott your right on never enough hunts with your father, a group of us made sure my dad made as many hunts and fishing trips as possible till he physically couldn't go any longer and the good Lord called him home that year. Hope this front does make a big push of birds.

Right on Mullet, Nothing like spending time in the duck blind with family. Tomorrow is one of those days weather wise where I would love to spend the entire day, sun up to sun rise, in one of my built for comfort blinds. The ducks should be filtering in all day and you can learn a lot from watching the sky and determining flight patterns the ducks are using. Many times we bring a stove in the blinds and I could cook a hot breakfast, lunch and dinner on a day like tomorrow. Unfortunately my real job will keep me busy away from the marsh that I love. For those who are out hunting the next couple days, please send reports of what you observe. Stay safe on the water and good luck to all!

Proud Pop,I was kidding with TheWizard7,saying ya dad looked a lot like him and de Wiz got a kick outta dat!!Hope and pray this strong N wind don't shove all de water outta the area Bayoubob and I plan to hunt tomorrow. The winds were howling last night, got bunch of satsumas and grapefruits to pick this evening before they end up frozen and can't wait to at least get out for a little duck hunt therapy tomorrow and still hoping and planning a few Venice trips soon!!This is probably the earliest strong front I can recall, perfect timing coupled with frozen conditions up North and no doubt lack of flooded crops not hurting!!!
