Fished 11/30 (first time inshore since last post) Only 10 keepers and a few throw backs. The bite was slow and soft with the 1/2 ounce z man jig head paired with a z man fluke generating the most bites (using plastics that float slows the rate of fall so you can throw a heavier plug in the wind and get the same or similar fall rate as a lighter weight) ....my buddy and his friend popped corks with shrimp and caught 12 specs along with some sheepshead. My buddy fished shallow areas 5-9 feet while I was fishing bends in canals 12-15 feet. The water temp was 64 which is not cold as I've caught trout on topwater in 48 degree water....this go got one strike on topwater and that was it. Water was dirty, I don't mind stained water but there was only a foot of visibility.

Good luck and tight lines

Re: Hopedale
Very fine bass, indeed.Reminds me of many conversations I had with my father-in-law who grew up in Mandeville and he used to brag about the largemouth bass and stripers they routinely caught in Lady P probably about 60-70 years ago when her shorelines were loaded with huge cypress trees and the Lake harbored mallards like nobody's business.Fast-forward to MRGO and salinity increased, now with MRGO dammed off, salinityway down, try Spillway Openings way to often and for way too long and the Lake is predominantly fresh with some exceptions and the bass are prevalent as well as reds patrolling the grass beds with some specks mixed in.Been spending plenty time in duck marsh, split in season this week end but re-opens following week but hope to fish somewhere next Wed(my 61st birthday)and Th,then back to duck hunting til end of second split!!Think there may be some local specks, been keeping in contact with TheWizard7 and hope to hit NShore area where I used to nab specks up to about 3 lbs but none in past 7-maybe 10 years and they would shock ya,not only size but where I was catching em!!!Hope always springs eternal,at least for me!!!
