De Nuck and Futz Duck Busters took to de NShore Marsh today, knowing full well dat ole Lady P might be springing some nasty fog on us and we used both the I-Phones plus Lowrance Depthfinder/GPS to safely navigate our way into one of our ole-time spots.Too bad my damn I-Phone choose today to act up and I was NOT able to navigate to the mallard pond I wanted to and ended up hunting RIGHT next to my Southfork, not such a bad thing since de ole Southfork pretty much camo'd out.Saw a big flock of scaup, not exactly my favorite waterfowl and did see and hear nice flock of greys that wanted NO part of my spread.Took exactly two shots at teal rocket dat shoulda been easy shot but I quickly turned easy shot into impossible shot(s)and only managed to waste 2 shells!!!Fog never really lifted and heard shooting coming from basically Lake shoreline, not sure who doing de honors nor what dey was shooting.Called it quits around 9:30 and on way back to launch, helped tow in hunters with flatboat(think dey miscalculated their gas tank!!!).Fellows we towed in had I think 7 ducks,2 scaup and 5 whistlers, not a bad haul given the terrible conditions!!!Guys we towed in recognized de ole Mandevillian and wished dem Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.Nuck headed to SW Texas, chasing ducks and ribeye in de sky,Sandhill Cranes.Hope he nabs some fine waterfowl!!!Wifey and I headed to Jackson,MS tomorrow gonna visit younger son in MS College Law School!!!

Ran into good friend and Abita KC member as well as Medicare Client this afternoon at 4:00 pm Mass and he was lamenting their recent NArkansas duck hunt trip where he and his son each shot ONE duck and the Guide Service made absolutely NO concessions-guess dey coulda offered money off next trip(if there is gonna be next trip for him)and another option coulda been money off taxidermy service, gun service, etc, guess dat Guide Service aint gonna get any more business from this gent!!!If NArkansas has about zero ducks, how can we expect ducks locally and think die-hards like me and Bayoubob and the hunters we towed in today might have to salvage a sub-par,miserable duck season via targeting tree ducks, woodies, scaup, buffleheads, about the only two options worth anything might be the woodies and have heard whistlers are good table fare!!!Hope springs eternal and might target woodies this coming week!!!Hint hint hint!!!

Definitely correct on 'sub par'. We hunted the Amite river swamp yesterday morning for the second split opening and managed to get one Drake hoodie. Only heard one Woodie squealing at daybreak but didn't fly by us. If we get a dozen Hoodies out of this swamp this season, we'll be doing good. Good hunting to all out there today!

Steelsprayer,Ever try the Bogue Chitto Refuge or Pearl River WMA.Should be loaded up with woodies, not sure about hoodies, never target them fish-eaters!!With the horrible duck seasons a lot of us having(few exceptions but have not heard of any consistency for the most part),probably prime time to seek woodies and I can always stalk tree rats as long as small game season underway!Know of a few choice spots and good news is where I hunt does have some secluded treelines(fog messed me up big-time yesterday)and mallards and woodies tend to favor hard-to-access spots a looooong paddle from where I leave my Southfork!!!
