Second Split Reports

Reply
The second split has pick up right where the first ended for me. Friday?s scouting trip was promising as I saw more duck than were present the whole first split. My clients decided to pass on Saturday?s hunt due to the weather and I couldn?t blame them. I decided to sleep in myself. Today, Sunday, regulars Danny and Nick got in some pretty good shooting. We killed 16 including 9 Dogris with the remaining 7 being a mix of teal, greys and mottled. I have a few openings between Christmas and New Years. Good luck to all the rest of the season.

Proud Pop,Least yall getting something to shoot.Got more than incredible pic from young fella hitting Venice like a pro and his duck log bears it out-sent me fine pics of redheads one hunt another bunch of pintails and greys, all awesome hunts!!Getting ready to toss in towel,at least on NShore and hitting deer stand this Th,GPS feature lists best time for hunts and this Th listed as Excellent,no reason to chase non-existent ducks vs video evidence of herd of does and at least 6 and 8 pt roaming atound!!!Congrats-hitting T-Funky tomorrow, know bass magnet that I found about 4 years ago and nabbed 4.6 lb and 3.4 from this exact spot and turns out spot is back alive and well!!!Merry Christmas,Happy and Prosperous New Year.Hope to score on a deer then maybe hit Venice before too long, hunts down there have been more than incredible, according to buddy of mine with de ducks to show for their efforts!!!

Proud Pop,Applaud your effort, gonna shift gears and hit deer stand about as hard as I have been hitting non-existent ducks!!!Took younger son,in from first year of Law School,to T-Funky where we luckily caught one small bass but spotted two fine small bucks, probaby chasing a doe or two.Got more than ample videography dat plenty does and bucks hitting very fine and thick food plot and gonna restrict my duck hunts to chasing very existent Honey island woodies-who knows might find a few mallard holes out there and got plenty of un-suspecting tree rats to keep me interested plus gotta lotta money and effort tied up in private deer club not far from home.Good luck to yall don't blame ya for NOT tossing in de towel,my situation totally different than yours and I am thankful to NOT have money tied up in duck AND deer lease.Deer fees only $500 and at one time did have sweet Delly lease, think my portion of 1 square mile lease was about $275,quite a bargain, and we USED to shoot plenty greys and teal out there.Think landowner fetched significantly higher price and have Medicare Client who tells me we COULD find Delly lease, hate de long drives from Mandeville and only way I would even consider getting back into Delly lease would be to have camp down there and dat aint in de plans,at least not for now!!!Hope yall do well!!!

Overall, based on mine, friends, and family hunts along withe the reports I get from other hunters, the second split has been at least as good to better than the first split. My second split hunts continue to raise my average kill per hunt. Please keep posting hunt results as I?m sure you all like to follow what?s going on around the state just as I do. I have some open dates that if not filled I will used to take friends and family on hunts, as well as working to keep the blinds freshly brushed. May even find time to try some of Wizards tactics for some Delacroix trout! I hate looking at the calendar this time of the years as our time in the marsh chasing ducks this season is becoming extremely limited. Let me know if you want to get in on a hunt. Good luck to all and keep the reports coming!

Fully intend to keep posting though some folks get all wired up bout it and guess what dey gonna have to get over it. I NEVER divulge more info than essential and everyone dat knows me knows I am Public/Federal Land warrior willing to outwork and out-conceal my hunt locations and ya would NOT believe what folks trying to convince me to do-quit posting NEVER gonna happen haters out there. Right now sitting in extremely cozy box stand Wifey and I built in huge live oak many years ago probably close to 20 years ago. Swapped out SD card gonna stick it out as long as possible and hope to score on a deer. As far as duck hunting goes, shifting venue and species targeted to wood ducks and who knows might find few geeenheads in process. I love hearing bout duck hunts all over this still great state.

Had a day without clients and took advantage of the last day of the season i will have to take my dad and brother out for a hunt. They wanted to try for greys and give the teal and Dogris a break. We headed out to a different area where I spotted a few greys on my Friday afternoon scouting trip. It wasn?t fast and furious but we managed 10, including 8 greys and a drake pintail. Taking a break tomorrow before a long week full of guided trips. Will keep you posted on how we are doing in Delacroix.

Got an incredible set of pics from young guns hunting Venice very hard and they have been destroying plenty of greys and pintails plus quite an assortment of other ducks.Think their duck log indicates a total of whopping 406 ducks strapped this year, some may have some from outta state hunts, did not get clarification, but that is still quite impressive and the Venice hunts alone have yielded them over 25 pintails, impressive in anyone's log!!!Have not heard much from other guide services and dat is ok as I know Scott is gonna call it like he sees it,never hiding from the facts, been tough season, getting way too weak to NOT have a pattern and how upset would a client be if he got erroneous info from Guide Service, plunked down serious coin and only shot buffleheads, scaup and vey few desirable ducks, like gadwalls and pintails.Keep posting,Scott,I will do likewise and hope to find a few local gadwalls and possibly mallards, hoping to make trek to Venice soon but it is not up to me.Want to get dow there possibly on Tues afternoon for possible Wed,Th hunt when perhaps not as much hunting pressure on ducks!!Taking Wifey fishing somewhere, possibly on sight-fishing trip for Lady P reds and looks like decent wind and tidal conditions!!!Hope tomorrow sets up nicely for local fishing trip,be it Lady P or T-Funky!!
