dredger,Definitelty count your blessings as where Bayoubob and I have been hunting must be No-Fly Zone for what used to be our bread n butter duck, the gadwall!!!Pretty much all but gave up on Marsh duck hunting as insanity is repeating something over and over and expecting different result and it would certainly be classified as insanity to keep hoping greys show up in NShore Marsh,at least where we had been hunting.Just got Chapman loaded as well as 5 Woodie decoys to go with big greenhead(have seen and heard a few mallards where I have been hunting lately)and the best part of my wood duck hunts, besides the tasty nature of my quarry,is the relative ease of the hunt coupled with fact that by 7:15 or so,pretty much done and have 3 client meetings tomorrow starting at 1:30 pm.Probably tossing in towel as far as typical Marsh hunts and might seek few sloughs away from beaten paths to increase not only success but reduced pressure and one of the allures of wood duck hunting is the shear beauty of those drakes and their environment aint too shabby to boot!!!Good luck to all, can't wait for crawfish and turkey season aint dat far away!!!Honey Island got plenty big mud bugs but best success is once again, off the beaten paths!!!Hard to beat taste of cypress swamp mudbugs, think the water and trees makes em sweeter!!!

yeah mande ,although we are having a great season on our lease , ducks as a whole have definately changed their migrating patterns .. and do not come as far south anymore.. dont think we will ever figure out the true reason WHY !! I just hope they dont stop migrating altogether

Guys, I think you are looking in the wrong direction for the Ducks. I just returned from a trip to Mexico and the numbers of ducks were un-freakin'-believable! Outfitter said they have been covered with ducks since the 1st of November. Said it gets better every year! We never saw another boat or heard another gunshot other than our group! Way too much pressure on the ducks in the states they just don't put up with it!!!! Thank goodness for closed refuges or there wouldn't be a duck or goose left in this country!

One of my diehard duck hunt buddies made the same case dat mallards have been in Mexico since teal season,of all things!!!Not sure how they evaded us but perhaps their migration occurred before Teal Season and with planted, flooded corn up North, whatever ducks are up N aint coming here, not to any appreciable degree.Maybe we can use some 'Cajun Ingenuity' and set up 'wall' to stop dem mallards in dey trax!!!

Mandevillian,tired of consistent MT Skies!!
