Went out this morning knowing that wouldn’t be any water, so decided to go too a spot good when water is very low , last night I painted couple of ole plugs that I figured would work in shallow water, and it paid off big time catching 28 nice trout 1 slot red and a fine bass , I kept 5 trout for lunch and released 23 trout, red and bass to fight another day 🧙‍♂️🎣

Good job Wizard, you keep on catching them. I want to try to catch a few trout in the afternoons after my duck hunts in Delacroix but the weather has not cooperated that last couple of opportunities that I had. I did purchase few of the hard plastic lures you have been using and I am eager to try them out. Keep up the post!

Yep Proud Pop,De Wiz a speck-catching machine and he just sent me pics of his hand-painted hard plastics. Should start lure-making biz on side and Jann’s Netcraft an awesome resource for those wanting to make nets, soft or hard plastics, custom rods, etc. Medicare been VERY good to Wifey and I 💰💰💰and gonna get fine rod-building table that has variable speed motor so I can get wraps perfect.

Wiz,

I live in NC now, originally from South Louisiana. Want to try that type of fishing up here.
Are you selling any of those lures & instructions on how to fish them properly?
Keep up the good ethics too - that recent report shows the “specs” are being overfished!

Sorry but I haven’t ever thought about selling something that any body can make themselves, what you’re seeing is ole H2O twitch baits that I’ve repainted with a mixture of yellow & green model hobby paint - Chartreuse color , sealed with clean head cement, I have slow sinking with black eyes and fast sinking with red eyes that you can see, I used a pink sharpie marker for the back on some and put some dots on it all most the same thing as a electric chicken style real easy to make, hope that explains what I use , just use it with confidence and it will help Good Luck 🧙‍♂️🎣

FYI use plugs in shallow water 2-4 ft , cast too the area you might think fish will be hanging about, look for bait movement, mullets , poggies and cast let plug drop for second then reel and twitch slowly, pause then start again all the way to boat or landing, you definitely know when a fish grabs your plug Good Luck 🧙‍♂️🎣

Wiz,Make sure when ya get to Hook and Line ya ask for Gary Palermo.Wifey and I met him and his wife Cathy(she used to work with Nick)and one of their sons,Jeff.Jeff works part-time at Academy in Hammond and he always stops by our Ponchatoula Wal Mart Medicare kiosk to let me know about any specials Academy is running!!!Jann's Netcraft is an incredible web-site offering plenty of lure-making,rod-building,net-making supplies and if someone were to be so inclined, they could fashion their own custom lures and maybe not sell em but just ask any tournament fisherman about using one-of-a-kind lures and dey would beat a path to ya door to get something either no one else is using or something dat fish may NOT have seen,Way too many off-de-shelf lures for my use and LOVE using something totally unique and fish have possibly NEVER seen.Shoulda seen de pond bass in sis-in-law's pond when Jr and I used custom sac a lait jighead lure, took all of bout two milliseconds for 3 lb bass to inhale sac a lait lure I custom-tied!!!

Thanks, Wiz for the info. Last question - are these lures fished on top or they lures that are fished below the water? Sorry if dumb question - just wasn’t sure if I should look for top water or those that go to a certain depth. I saw where you said 2-4 feet so I suspect sinking lures.

Rockachaw : Sorry I should of mentioned that they are all sinkers , none of them float, l could imagine that if you were to cast and retrieved it faster it would stay in the upper water column , giving you a opportunity for surface strikes , I’ve never done that on purpose but have had trout hit plugs right on the side of my boat as I was pulling plug out of the water , hope that this will help you out, if I can ever help you out again just ask. Good Luck 🍀 🧙‍♂️🎣
