Pecan island

Great weekend down in Pecan Island. Shot 17 Saturday and only three today, but still better than we had been doing. Add three dozen of nice crabs right off the wharf plus 12 good size catfish on the jug lines on the way back from hunting made a great weekend. Only two weekends left hopefully it’ll continue to get better.

We hunted both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday was a good day for a duck hunt weather wise we shot 3 dosgris in the morning and the other boat shot 1 teal and a coot. Not real good.

Went to scout another piece of property I have permission to hunt around noon. No decoys but brought the guns. There was about 400 green winged teal in pond about 200 yards from where we pulled up. They swarmed around for a few minutes and we had some shots. Got 2 out of it but had we shot better could have been more. That was fun.

Sunday was a bluebird day no wind. Not a good day for a duck hunt. Started out on our lease shot 1 dosgris. We went down to the other property around 7:30 and shot 2 green winged teal.

Trying something different to see how things are in another area. It has potential we will see.

Fellow duck diehards, been such a miserable marsh duck season started seeking out much-more challenging woodies and best part is how dey taste and found few very promising sloughs that ALWAYS seem to have decent flight of woodies, starting at legal shooting and ending no later than 7:15 or so and then I can stalk some tree rats.Taking Abita KC buddy with me tomorrow and taking light-weight Chapman or yak to retrieve dem fine woodies and possibly some fat tree rats!!!Not a rabbit out there and did see some fine wild turkeys fighting over some hens, all in tall azz tree!!
