I always keep the last weekend of the season open to take my dad. Today we had a good hunt killing all greys. It wasn’t burn up your barrel fast but we had good action throughout the morning. Patience was important this morning and you had to stay on the call until you shot. Some people will tell you less calling is best late in the season but today if you were quiet they would land short or drift away outside the decoys. As long as you sound like a duck and read the ducks and what they respond to your calling should not cause the ducks to flare. One more day to give them all we got. Good luck to all and stay safe on the water.

Can’t believe it was too hot for a fire on the dock on the last night of the season. Still enjoyed some fresh fried catfish and our first crawfish boil of the season. Everyone stay safe as we get after the ducks one last time in the morning.

Congrats and enjoy dem mud bugs.

Yep,Scott, think the greys FINALLY got de e-mail,text,whatever and dey showed up for one nice Nuck and Futz NShore Marsh slam. With the ripping E winds predicted for Wed,might opt outta Trestles trip in favor of hitting NShore Marsh,if water levels allow it!!!Gonna get me good jighead mold to make fine jigheads that will mate up perfectly to Fin-S Shakers and DID find some fine but pricey Bass Pro swimbaits that look way too real to NOT entice hammer specks to tear em up,specks in de 3-4 lb range,no doubt!!!

P.S. Wifey and I noticed ridiculously HIGH Pearl River levels and on our ride home from Jackson, lotta water unfortunately headed OUR way!!!

Re: Last Weekend Results
I woke up this morning with withdrawal symptoms as yet another duck season has come and gone. I had a good season overall compared to many I keep in touch with. We killed more grey ducks during the second split than the first. I took some effort to stay on the few ducks that were around in our area of Delacroix. I thought I was ready at the beginning of the season but built 2 new blinds and fixed more setups to give my groups the best chance at what ducks were in the area. I rotated through all of my decoys to change spreads depending on what area I was hunting and what species and numbers were in that specific area when scouting the day before each hunt. I don’t know how much the changes in decoy setups helped in the long run but I do know the extra effort did not hurt out chances.
The new proposed dates for next season have been released and we are again looking forward to a 60 day season and 6 duck limit. My regular hunters are already booking and reserving their dates and now the excitement and expectations of ducks over the decoys begins to simmer as we await yet another opening Morning. Good luck to those who can still get after them!

The end of this season is hitting me hard. It’s the time of year when I know my “real” job will keep me busy and out of the marsh except for a Sunday trip now and then. I still need to commit a weekend to going to remove some blind materials so they won’t float away with any high tides, and haul my 10 dozen decoys back home for off season storage. Also need to get my boat home and transition it from a duck boat to a fishing machine. Good luck to those who still get to hunt ducks. I may try to get in a few hog hunts, and maybe get after the deer with a bow hunt or two. Also have a big rabbit hunt planned once deer season is over. All of these will be an exciting time outdoors but nothing compares to duck hunting and taking out others to enjoy our shared passion. Good luck to those venturing out and as alway, stay safe on the water.
