Duck Season 2019-2020 Recap

Reply

This season was memorable for our group, our final tally was 655 birds harvested and around 580 of them in Louisiana. The statewide report looks like this year was that this season was better than last years but not where it should be. Im including some of our highlight pictures this year but they do not show the time/money/work that went into the finished product.

Read the caption again, 580ish birds killed in Louisiana, the rest came from Oklahoma and Texas. 33/37 hunts were in Louisiana

Here is the ultra-cool part-was hunting not that far away when dey dropped banded teal, lucky me!!!De Nuck and Futz Duo exchanged texts today joking dat a case of shells might last he and I a few years and De Duck Assasins would be chooting plenty of boxes of shells to harvest dat many ducks!!!Once again, congrats on ultra-successful seasons, notice I mentioned seasons as I know they travelled outta state twice to harvest bunch of quality ducks but vast majority came from LA!!

grey ducks, teal, red heads pintails, mottled ducks, widgeon, dos gris. Roseau canes in the pictures. survey says venice Louisiana. That looks like the same tunnel boat I saw hunting all over the delta refuge in open water. Bad ass little rig. Note to all refuge hunters. You cannot build permanent blinds on the refuge. I HEARD thru the grapevine that if you hunt in a permanent blind and bring surface drives on the refuge that robo cop mike downy will get ya. Guess they finally had enough of the complaints about it happening. Good season though

Funny how names get dropped and dat explains why I did not see Mike Downie,Jr one time in Regular Duck Season-he was no where near the Big Branch Refuge,at least not this past season. I did chat with two young duck hunters regarding their fine Surface Drive and dey indicated that dey packed out tickets hunting mouth of River and correctly guessed dey musta hunted Delta.

Yep Mande, my guess is that the reason you didn't see Mike in BB is that he has an almost impossible job trying to manage the surface drive issue and permanent blind challenge on Delta NWR.
From what I can see Mike does a hell of a job engaging with legal sportsmen and utilizing their eyes for the benefit of all.
I'm not accusing anyone on this post of hunting DNWR illegally!
Just commenting on the issue that exists and the job that Mike does.

bourg23,Yep I have been Mike's 'eyes and ears' for quite some time and one memorable event sticks out in my mind-was hunting Fritchie Marsh on solo hunt and some morons, best way to describe em,were shooting coots from moving Lafitte skiff and they actually started making their way to my well-concealed palmetto blind and I shot him a text and live call and even though these guys were NOT caught dat day, pretty sure they continued their dumb-azz tactics next day and he said they got busted big-time.Do the crime,do the time!!!Dumb azzes all over this place!!!The fellow posting this thread is NOT the ones I referred to,these guys I chatted with on Bayou Lacombe were young guys hunting the NShore Marsh with a Surface Drive and I was doing them HUGE favor reminding dem dat Surface Drives NOT allowed in Federal Refuges!!!

Definitely gives the rest of us Public Land Warriors some hope and can't wait for teal season.Hard to believe how miserable, for the most part, last duck season was for the vast majority of us.Been spending some quality time nabbing fine sac a lait and just yesterday I nabbed my personal best,5.02 lb largemouth, gonna take her to Sonny Miller Taxidermy in Crossroads,MS for some of his artistic mounting!!Bunch of years ago he mounted two of the biggest of six bass I caught, fishing the T-Funky outta fine Chapman pirogue!!
