Had a little more time on my hands, was going solo, was also launching about 30 minutes earlier than yesterday's trip with older son and grandson and trip got off to slow start but very nice finish with me getting personal best(5.02 on digital scale)!!Nabbed one nice sac a lait at fish magnet(first spot)and let two feisty goggle-eyes go(always amazed at aggressive nature of such a small fish).T-Funky getting so fine, hard to believe how clear she is right now and dem blue Spoiler Shad with either pink or white Crappie Psychic trailers extremely hard to beat. Was using chartreuse Crappie Psychic trailers on bunch of previous trips, not sure exactly when I switched over to pink but definitely seemed to make a difference.Searched around for sac a lait, pulled one from under boat dock as well as two fat bass and was almost ready to toss in towel and head home for plenty of gardening and yard work and was deep-jigging blue Spoiler Shad with white Crappie Psychic trailer and found fine T-Funky mansion with huge wharf and had made maybe 3-5 casts, jigging the Spoiler Shad and watched line go crazy, initially thought perhaps world-record sac a lait hit lure til I set hook, had plenty of line get stripped off, watched brute of a bass tail walk at least 3 times and estimated bass between 6-7 lbs it was dat big!!!Shot few pics and texts to bunch of fishing buddies and made my way back towards 3 Rivers Rd Launch.love dat lil rinky-dink launch cause hardly anyone uses it!!Got home, put lunker on digital scale and she tipped it at 5.02,my personal best, not just on T-Funky but biggest to date and gonna get her to Sonny Miller Taxidermy asap for nice mount.Saw some HUGE bass at first spot and they were chasing perch, bet tossing Rapala Pumkinseed Perch crankbait would destroy some big bass!!!My luck is bet I nab much bigger bass on next trip.Gotta love dat T-Funky and was absolute blast nabbing trophy bass on ultra-light spinning gear!!!Showed her off to older couple I met back at launch and hubby noticed de Mandevillian a die-in-de-wool lure fisherman, don't need no stinking bait,EVER,and much more challenging and rewarding nabbing fine fish with lures!!!

Thanks, guys and Wiz,don't ya go catching too doggone many specks and reds-wanna check out AJfishes latest You Tube but video was kinda long and we had plenty of yard and garden work to tend to.Hope Sonny Miller in Crossroads,MS still practicing fine taxidermy. He did some great speck mounts for Gus's in Slidell and he has a fine studio with full deer mount, couple of full turkey mounts, bobcat, etc. His studio is loaded up with works of art and he did an awesome job about 4-5 years ago, mounting a 4.6 lb and 3.4 lb bass on same piece of fine wood(both fish caught outta Chapman pirogue with 4 othere much smaller)and funniest story was dat I showed off bigger fish that day to fellow fisherman who totally missed de mark, saying the fish was about 3 lbs(almost asked fellow when was his lasy eye exam!!)The fish magnet has NEVER failed me and the chunk came from no where near fish magnet but at my first stop, saw at least 3-4 bass chasing perch and everyone looked as big or bigger than today's chunk!!

Nice bass!! Throw em back and let em grow! The big en has defied all odds but hey I keep larger trout sometimes and to each his own.....I just throw almost all bass back because I might need to weigh em one day lol

Misfortune,Came very close to just taking pic and measuring fish but had no way to get weight-might start taking digital scale with me!!!Got in touch with Sonny Miller and he does great fish mounts, did awesome job for me about 4-5 years ago on what was my T-Funky and personal best bass, one a shade under 5,right at 4.6 and he mounted a smaller one 3.4 and that particular day must have had karma working for me as I caught 6 bass with three coming from one spot and a fellow fisherman was way off de mark guessing that the bigger bass that day was about 3 lbs and I knew better as I have a 3.5 lb bass mounted(caught it on fly rod, what a rush). Will probably take bass to him this week and we joked about the unfortunate situation that always seems to happen-just about the time we go to pick up personal best,we up the personal best and my goal(besides trying to nab 3 plus lb sac a lait)is to nab T Funky bass in excess of 7 lbs, plenty out there for sure they just do not get big by getting caught(unless a generous soul releases em)!!

Really nice bass, Mande! Used to catch those (not quite that big) from Dad's canal when he lived on Taulla Drive. Always threw them back hoping for a giant one day. Good fishing where short, L-shaped canal meets T-Funky. Congrats!

BTW, I mounted my first big bass (7lbs, 2 oz) but have had to have it redone twice in 25 years as the plaster gets old and cracks. Skin may also peel. I quit having fish mounted that way. Measure length and girth, take a picture and send it to someone like Bass Pro for a plastic replica. They look great, last forever and you can put the fish back in the water unless you decide to eat her!

CCAguns,It was not the species I was targeting and was quite exciting watching dat chunk tail walk a few times, really thought about the conversation I had bunch of years ago when I lost one bigger than that, fishing outta Chapman pirogue. What happened is somehow my drag got extremely loose on baitcaster, was tossing June Bug Red Zoom Speed Worm near Beau Chene golf course and gent playing golf saw me,asked about what I had caught and unfortunately had to tell him bout the very large bass I had just lost and he made the asinine comment that all fisherman are liers, saying they lost the 'big one'.I quickly retorted dat my taxidermist had two dat I did NOT lose and one was 4.6,the other 3.4 and had I really wanted to get his azz, mighta asked how many holes in one he has made!!Lotta bigger fish out there, probably will nab onee about the time I pick up this chunk from Sonny Miller taxidermy!!

Golfers lie more than fisherman!!!! A fisherman may be guessing at his fish's weight. The golfer isn't 'guessing' how many strokes he had!

CCAguns,Yep dem golf guys do have a tendency to not count all dem strokes and dat fella probably falls into same category.Too bad I do not remember him and I do NOT play golf so ya aint gonna catch me on any golf courses(unless I gets permission to fish their ponds in evenings when no golfers out and about)!!Taking older son and grandson to favorite stretch of T-Funky tomorrow and we will be armed and dangerous with plenty of bass and sac a lait gear in tow.Wanna see if I can get son and grandson on some slabs as well as trophy bass.Hard to beat the beauty and bounty of T-Funky,she is so majestic with huge cypress trees, plenty of wildlife(saw nice doe on last trip)and we have seen few bald eagles plus plenty of gators and great blue herons and flocks of Canada geese. The whistling tree ducks have definitely taken up residence in T-Funky area and absolutely love seeing and hearing wood ducks.About the only ducks we rarely see are mallards and teal,One other beauty of T-Funky is the shear size of the watershed plus fact that Bogue Falaya has plenty of big Kentucky bass, another goal of mine is to better my personal best of 3 lb stud of Kentucky bass.Sonny Miller and I chatted at length last night(taking grandson with us when we get big bass to his fine studio)and Sonny joked dat folks typically nab a bigger fish the same day as they pick up mount.Watch and see what happens to de Mandevillian, bet I nab one tomorrow but well before we take yesterday's bass to Sonny!!Just watched neat video of gent fishing Bayou Liberty, another gem but do not think she holds as many sac a lait as T-Funky!
