Elusive Silverwonders, not so elusive today Delacroix Way

Reply
TEAM JO-JO:

Great minds think alike, Big Pablo express some interest, (as did Oneofthepack) in heading out to Lake Campo to see if we could learn the area and some hot spot to fish. Big Adrian be first mate, Oneofthepack be innocent fisherperson for today, down in our Disney World known as Delacroix Island.
SIGNS:
• Meet up for 5:15 AM at Big Pablo’s abode
• Me up at 4:00 AM, did not want to leave house until after 5 AM, Slidell curfew, did not want to be stopped and question why me be out.
• As me loaded up the FORD transporter, me notice something, just nothing, no noise, no traffic on I-10, we usually hear the traffic, but there was none today.
• It was like a ghost town, no traffic, no people out & about
• We did not take Hwy 11, not good it be
• No wild life sightings along I-10 or 610
• Did have a bad accident at the base of the green bridge on Paris Road, heading towards New Orleans.
• Boast all over the Hwy, in gas stations, and the launches where packed
• Passed on Waffle House, McDonnel, did stop at Violet gas station for go juice, ice, and snacks, they had (15) boats in the station, it was challenging to get out of the station.
• Police had out speeding signs, they would flash if you were speeding, seems nobody paid any attention to it.
• It was a steady line of boast heading south
• Check point Able, water level at junction canal, down 10-12”
• Check point Bravo water pouring out at Roggio canal
• Reggio launch had 5 boast waiting to launch
• Me expected Lionel’s line to be back up for blocks, but e aught and in-between time, as they on had 3 boast in front of us.
• Launched, got 80 live shrimp

• Water clarity on a scale of 1-7, a
o Lake Campo first spot a solid 5
o Crossed Campo a 3
o 51A, B, C, & D a 5 plus, looked real good, dark looking, clean & clean
• Tide, Tail end of a falling tide turned around about 11:58
• Boats out and about, LOTS< LOTS< LOTS, me guess 150

REPERTOIRE OF TECHNIQUE / STRATEGY:

• Be safe
• Have fun
• This be me daily therapy for ALL me aliments
• Put some run time on the Bay Flat Sr and the Yamaha Dream Machine
• Gather Intel for future trips, and to share with fisherperson, (on rodnreel.com) to help assist them in their choice of areas to fish, lures to use and presentation of same to the elusive Silverwonders.
• Check out Lake Campo, find some hot spot # to fish
• Observe how others fished the area
• Try out some new lures
• Try top water lures
• Run new routes, learn routes to Lake Campo
• Find a spot # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:
1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (Lake Campo kind of hard to fish with a high wind, but we did manage to find a spot with the wind at our back, and it be a perfect spot to be at, we had all 7 of the criteria’s in this one spot.)
2 MOVING WATER: (Perfect falling than rising, moving all day.)
3 WATER CALRITY: (Looking good all over, Lake John looking real good a 5 plus in this area)
4 HOLDING FISH: (Spot # 51A, B, C, & D)
5 PATIENTS: (Lake Campo we needed some, caught first fish in about 8 minutes, then it was a challenge to find more)
6 SKILL: (Oak River Troll, tight lining, live shrimp presentation)
7 LUCK: (Big Pablo. Bought 80 big lively shrimp from Lionel’s)
• Anchor up cast & retrieve slowly along the bottom, with a twitch every now and then, tight lining…………………………………20% caught this way

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS OF THE MAP FISHED:

Spot # Lake Campo 3-4 spots, # 51A, B, C, & D, (23)t stopped fishing at 3:35 PM

OUR REWARDS:

• Lived to fish another day
• (38) NMR Silverwonders, (8) Miniwonders
• (2) Redworries, (1) Ratworrier
• (1) Sheepshead
• (1) Croaker
• (1) Sting Ray
• (10) Hard heads
• (2) Oyster shells
• (2) Bottoms
• (1) Bushel of grass
• Learned a few spots in Lake Campo, seems all they do is pound all around the Islands, and fish with corks, that is the technique me saw.
• Learned new route to Lake Campo
• Learned that live shrimp is the way to go
• Great food, snacks, and drinks
• Spending the day on the water with 2 of the best fisherperson me know, Big Pablo, and Big Adreian
• Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Oneofthepack managed to add a few to the box, stayed true to the lures, me efforts not enough for the honors today.

Big Adreian came out quick in Lake Campo, had his share of Oak River Troll, and tight lining catches, but he waited too long to switch over to live and dead shrimp, cause when he went with them he caught cat fish. He came up a little short for the honors today.

Big Pablo had a good showing when fishing with lures under a cork, but when it came to Oak River Troll & Tight lining he struggled with these techniques. It was not until they slowed down with the Oak River Troll technique, and we anchored up to fish the strike zone we identified doing the Oak River Troll, that Big Pablo, threw out a live shrimp on a Carolina rig. It was all over for the lures, he just sat their pulling them in one after another, while Big Adreian and Oneofthepack watched, seems Big Pablo had the last laugh. And he is fisherperson of the day.

SUGGESTIONS:

If you did not get the message in all above, “DON’T LEAVE THE DOCK WITHOUT OF SOME OF BIG LIONEL’S BIG LIVELY SHRIMP”

PONDER OF THE DAY:

My wife was the best I could get with the boat I had

Q&A:

To what degree have you actually controlled the course your fishing has taken?

TEAM JO-JO’S FUTURE STRATAGEM:

Nothing, me think (maybe) me slow down some, 7th & 8th booked with Big Jeff.

Good Fishing

Pack,Check out the latest AJfishes You Tube,ya mighta run into he and a fellow expert silverwonder fisherman,Dave Raggio, yesterday in ya Delly-Croix playground.Think the two of them expert silverwonder soft-plastic fanatics boxed up 41 specks and some were quite nice, well over the 12 inch min!!!I used to routinely post on ya favorite site but noticed a lot more activity on dis site, much more reports and plenty, plenty folks routinely post here,my go-to site for not only T-Funky sac a lait and bass fishing but plenty of folks chasing some dem silverwonders you so lovingly speak of.Check out Louisiana Produce Man You Tube videos, well worth a look-see!!!Good luck in ya future trips.Plenty folks on this site NEVER use live bait, like a former tournament fishing partner used to say,'Anyone can catch a fish with a fish!'.Those words still ring as true today as when this gent(probably best soft plastic fisherman I have ever met)uttered them and he has tons of trophies to back up his claim to fame.Think he moved to closer to his roots,Mobile,Alabama and I still use some of his 'secret weapons',Fin-S fish lures, though the Shakers are a 'must-have' at Trestles as they are much fatter than any other soft plastics I have found and they encite a riot amongst the lunker speck community, try em you will see what I have known for plenty, plenty years and Lunkr City has incredible jigheads with ridiculously sharp hooks,so sharp that I have often had scale of fish impaled on center of hook!!!Good luck on this site, think ya might migrate over here!!

P.S.Pack,ya might remember a gent that went by Ole Speck, expert soft plastics fisherman, won plenty of salt water tournaments using nothing more exotic than Fin-S fish lures, they are so fine they NEVER had to be altered, kinda like ya beetles, still made same way as when first introduced,no need to mess with em and the Shakers are fatter and way more flexible than ANY other soft plastics readily available-gotta order em from web site!!!
