I’m going to try Saturday morning for my three. Hoping to cook them down with a few onions and eat over rice. Anyone else chasing squirrels this weekend?

Now dat ya reminded me,might just have to try some dem spots I used to hit over past few years!!Hoping the Honey Island Swamp open and while messing around on Internet, might scope out recent Hydrocoast map as looking at Advocate and satellite pic showed ribbon of decent sight-fishing redfish waters not far from home!!!Steelsprayer, good luck and our property could also use a thinning-out of tree rats, trouble is neighbors might not like sounds of shotguns, plus it is not legal!!

Checked Pearl River gauge at Pearl River and looks like the level a tad below the 16.5 ft threshold so perhaps Honey Island Swamp might be open this week end.I might opt for Monday as maybe there won't be as much hunting pressure.Older son has very nice scoped .22 mag(great for hogs)and we may try our luck on spring tree rats and possibly hogs!!

Yes, I hope to make a trip or two while working around my place. Love a good cooked down squirrel stew!

Not sure if anyone went tree rat hunting this week end-we got tons of tree rats on our Mandeville property, trouble is not legal to shoot em!!!Might just make trip to Pearl River WMA,though not tomorrow as Wifey and I celebrating 35th wedding anniversary via nice trip to Bayou Lacombe, gonna toss out half dozen crab nets(unfortunately left dozen fine nets in Kenner at my mom's)and we might try to either sight-cast or blind-cast(depending upon water clarity)tomorrow.Just got in to take short break from tieing up over 134 tomato plants that seem like dey grow over 6 inches per night!!!Had to make sure deer fencing still intact as we have quite a herd of deer likewise and thought about using crossbow to rid ourselves of a few deer but again not legal, guess I could check 'nuisance animal'regulations and by destroying our gardens,I would classify these deer as 'nuisance animals'!!Worst case scenario is I will make trip to de Pearl during week, though with lotta folks at home, bet tree rats woods might be tad busy!!
