My boy wanted to go fishing for his birthday so I’m down in Shell Beach for a few days with him and his buds. Lots of trout this morning 5/20 on live shrimp and soft plastics under cork

Here is the beauty of this site-cooperation amongst folks dat continue to post reports(do not need spots just like to know water conditions, etc)and de Wiz has already sent me pics of 4 reds he has already boxed and believe he lost one to shark!!!CCAguns and I hope to take advantage of not only favorable winds BUT trying to time a falling tide and we hope to box a few fish!!Get kick outta folks dat ONLY monitor reports NEVER post reports and dat is quite OK just not fair, kinda like Internet duck hunters, deer hunters,etc-want info but NOT willing to exchange. We KNOW who dey are!!!Oh well, some folks like to fish other folks' spots and dat is OK just be prepared to struggle when just a tad of cooperation would eliminate lotta dat!!

Mandevillian,chomping on de bit!!

Day 2. Not so favorable winds for area we fishing in Bay Eloi. Picked up couple before anchor wouldn’t hold. Short move and boys reeling one after the other. Problem they mostly 11 3/4 inches. Let them have fun for bout an hour and headed to Lake Borgne. Along way we hit some birds. Again it was on one after the other but mostly throwbacks. Hit the lake and picked up a few reds and heads before the boys were worn out. Although we threw back over 100 trout we still put together a good box and the boys will be talking about this trip for a long time

Last Cast,Wish CCAguns and I could get jobs as weather forecasters as dey missed de wind forecast by quite a HUGE margin today. At least yall boxed some nice fish.Just posted the trip CCAguns and I made today, left NShore late to try to take advantage of predicted falling tidal movement that NEVER materialized(at least we managed a red, lost very nice one at boat, and two bass).Gonna make PLENTY more Hopedale trips to start putting pieces of puzzle together!!Nice box of fish.

Yes sir! I am fortunate to have a son that has the same passion for the outdoors as I do and that I am able to share moments like this with him just as my father did with me.

Quick evening trip in Lake Borgne. The boys had a good time hauling in some bay snapper. One more day to wrap up this birthday bash. We’ll see what tomorrow brings

Yet another nice haul. Got a buddy fishing down that way today with his grandson and son in law and kidded him via text bout catching all de Wiz’s fish. Knowing this fellow he ain’t leaving the dock without at least 100 live shrimp and hope to hear from him shortly. Got registered for STAR last night and one of the Lake P Legends kept insisting that I register so got it done. Now just need to nab tagged red. Caught one many years ago but it was not CCA tagged red but did fetch me neat cap🎩🎣🐠

Was trying to wrap up swimming pool liner installation today but Mother Nature had other plans and did contact fishing buddy who fished Hopedale today think they caught one fish and came home with 50 lbs of shrimp. Guess even live shrimp did NOT work for them today😬

This morning’s outing was the last of this epic 4 day birthday fishing adventure in Shell Beach/Hopedale for my son and his two best buds. Wind and dirty water made it challenging but what else is new. Found some clean water In Bay Eloi and put together a nice box of speckled trout and sheep heads using live shrimp under cork. I hate having such a memorable trip come to an end but must admit I am thankful, this old dude is worn out!

Thanks fellas. I spent most of the day today recuperating. Wish I had 1/2 the energy of these kids lol. The boys had such a good time. Some days we had to work a little harder than others, mostly because of wind and having to fish in such a way to make it easier for them. We caught good numbers of fish pretty much everywhere we went, albeit many were throwbacks, we had good action every trip. And not once did we fish the long rocks. Not to say you won’t catch fish there, it’s just been too overcrowded lately for my liking. Not once did we have any competition trying to fish anywhere or have another boat closer to us than several hundred yards, maybe 1/4 mile. If there any advice I could give it would be there’s so much more to Hopedale/Shell Beach than the long rocks. Get out there and explore. Good luck and tight lines to everyone this summer

I really liked your post!. Anytime you can take kids fishing it will be time well spent. Your pics are priceless and the time you shared with boys will always be a part of who they are. They will be proud to say they know how to fish and you should hold your head high knowing you were a part of that experience. I always enjoy taking kids fishing. The young girls are always fun to introduce to the outdoors too. You would be surprised how many kids never get to experience the smell of the marsh on a early morning while the sun is coming up in the sky. Get your rest and get back out there! GO WOLVES!

Last Cast,Yep,Hopedale can indeed yield plenty fish with NO one anywhere near ya.unless ya fish either the dam or Long Rocks and my trip with CCAguns this past Th showed me some areas with ZERO competition and dat was where we actually caught fish,no bait other than either Berkley Gulp Shrimp or Lunker City Shaker.Got word dat my AI 4 inch swim bait mold has shipped and been scoping out plenty You Tube videos on open-pouring soft plastics and can't wait to get newest mold in and also have nice Do-It mold CCAguns lent me so I can make bunch of 3/8 and 1/2 oz round jigheads and placed order with Barlow's Tackle for yet another Do-It Mold, this one makes Manic Mullet jig heads, only issue is I needed to get 60 degree bend hooks as this particular mold does not use traditional 90 degree bend hooks.Getting 3/0 ad 4/0 hooks to go along with mold and will be making bunch of gear so if and WHEN I lose gear to Hopedale tackle eater, not a great loss!!!Once again, thanks for de nudge to fish an area I have been neglecting but NO longer!!
