See where the Advocate Outdoors Calendar lists this Th's Wildlife and Fisheries Commission Meeting, set for 9:30 am at Joe Herring Room,State Wildlife and Fisheries Headquarters. If concerned sportsfishers and guides want to voice opinions regarding the rampant menhaden fishery, here is a golden opportunity.About time we address this destructive industry and Captain Tommy Vidrine's You Tube could not come at a more opportune time!!Hope a few folks can participate.

I believe there is limiting the amount of people than can attend. You can catch them on line though I believe they are going to zoom the meeting so you can watch it and participate that way as well. I watched the last meeting on line as well.

Yes,I did see where they are limiting the number of folks attending, certainly not a surprise and if I can participate electronically, would be awesome thing.Just crossed Big Pond and water looked very fishable and we saw plenty bait activity!!Water was slick-calm and Nside looked much better than S side.

I fish NC inshore and offshore when I was younger. We stopped the wholesale slaughter and vacuuming of our menhaden only a few years back. Best thing we ever did (and we still ALLOW wholesale netting and trawling). Big improvement is obvious. Get it stopped if you can. Corruption in the fishing/political system is everywhere.

eubied,Yep it seems like political interests unfortunately trump recreational/charter interests, especially with respect to this utterly destructive menhaden industry. Why it continues boggles the mind and thank God,Captain Tommy Vidrine got video footage, much like the SportFishing Mag showed and I have never met Captain Tommy but he does NOT seem to be the type to photoshop or alter in any way the footage he took.Come on folks, like Newell Normand would say,'Wake up!'

Just got off teleconference related to my Insurance Industry and checked out CCA e-mail I just received from executive director,David Cresson.Bottom line is CCA very much involved(sorry to report dat,John C!!)in taking serious look at destructive menhaden industry and folks that can't attend tomorrow's meeting(I will be fishing with a gent who received electronic survey from LWLF)can voice concerns regarding menhaden industry via sending e-mail to comments@wlf.la.gov(make sure to include agenda item #12 in subject line).Hope this message gets read by PLENTY charter and recreational fishers!!I,for, one, will be sending an e-mail to LWLF pronto!!Meeting is tomorrow @9:30 am @2000 Quail Drive in Baton Rouge.

WHAT was talked about and WHAT WAS NOT TALKED ABOUT during the Thursday- June 4th meeting? Was CCA reps there or not???

IF NOT...I guess ...'they are just looking at' the pogey issue and/or the closing of public waterway access !!!

John C,Check out today's Advocate as I see where Joe Macaluso reported very briefly on the Commission Meeting and looks like ya favorite industry WAS addressed and in for a very LONG battle. At least the issue was addressed and there is NO DOUBT public record of what was discussed, perhaps a search of public meetings would yield the minutes, perhaps the entire meeting. Some folks MAY have participated via ZOOM and those meetings ARE recorded in entirety,SO we should have the ENTIRE meeting captured so folks can QUIT pointing fingers!!!
