HIP certification

Just heard something about having to get a HIP certificate online this season. Anyone know about this? Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Steelsprayer, you are correct. Going forward we will have to get our HIP certification online vs. at a retailer. The reason seems to be that retailers very seldom asked the bag survey questions from the previous year making the data false and unusable.\r\nIn a sense this is our fault also. When they wouldn\'t ask and we went along. So, what the USFWS got was data that was vastly inaccurate. Retailers weren\'t accountable and for the most part neither were we.\r\nWe can all do better.

Recently got mine online via the new system, couldn't be easier and a whole lot better than dealing with the big box retailers, especially in today's crazy world. As a bonus, now the LDWF will get actually useful data from your HIP entries instead of just whatever the person at the register randomly put in to hurry you along, as boug23 alluded to above.

I'll gladly pay the $2 for it to be so convenient.

They were giving warnings last season as most hunters were unaware of the change. This also applies to lifetime license holders.

Lucky me,Wifey went on-line just before the licenses needed to be renewed and musta got under de wire as far as the $2.00 (convenience charge)as my Sr.Hunt/Fish license did indeed include HIP certification and I do recall she asked me how many waterfowl I harvested last season(pretty easy as we did not shoot dat many ducks, zero coots, zero on rails, gallinules, geese)!!Next season dey most likely gonna hit me de whopping $2.00!!!
