Hope everyone fares ok through Christobal and had plenty idle time on my hands and CCAguns gave me plenty lead plus lent me nice Do-It Mold for 3/8 and 1/2 oz lead jigheads and I have at least 5 other Do-It Molds that have been relatively idle, particularly since the soft plastics I have been tossing(Lunker City Shakers)mate perfectly with perhaps the absolute finest jigheads I have EVER seen/used-Pro Series jigheads with ridiculously sharp and strong hooks and I get the painted ones in mostly 3/8 oz size.Been itching to get after making some jigheads(lose plenty at Long Rocks)and this Tropical Storm gave me plenty idle time and bought fine Lee production pot(is incredibly efficient)and been texting with gent down in Houma dat I befriended via this site.He was telling me that his hobbies sound lot like mine and he has made plenty custom rods(I have professional rod wrapper),makes tons of INCREDIBLY effective soft plastics, and makes plenty of lead jigheads and was stating that he has not purchased a lure, jighead, rod for over 7 years.De way I spend money, could save me a King's Ransom!!!Got about 60 lead jigheads made and texted pic to this fellow and he praised the quality(always nice getting a compliment, especially from someone who has been doing this probably longer than me)!!!Can't wait for Christobal to move N and hope and pray that EVERYONE spared his wrath.Next step is to run electric line to fine shed Wifey and I built about 4-6 years ago and entire back wall is fine bench,tailor-made for rod-building,lure-making,etc!!Hope CCAguns and I can make a Hopedale trip possibly this Friday and want to get AJfishes a supply of soft plastics for him to toss!!

Yep,Steelsprayer,I powder coat plenty of dem bad jigheads. The reason I ever got into making my own jigheads was dat the jigheads that were being sold were total junk!!Once I powdercoat a few and attach eyes,ya aint gonna believe de difference!!Next up gonna be to start open-pouring fine custom swimbaits, already have great resource on tips, etc from gent down in Houma and guess I edged him into hitting his lure-making shop and he just texted me some pics of INCREDIBLE fresh water lures he made for buddy in Toldeo Bend.Should be making swimbaits in less than 2 weeks, can't wait to get after it!!

CCAguns,Can't thank ya enough for the supply of lead and use of Do-It mold and think I told ya I have quite a supply of lead from a fellow Abita KC member who gave me at least 5 lead roof jacks, probably almost a lifetime supply of lead!!Was pleasantly surprised that one of the Do-It molds(diner shiner)worked extremely well at keeping Fin-S fish soft plastic SECURELY attached and ya gotta really tug hard to get it to budge once ya get dat wire lure keeper secure.I initially thought de soft plastics would rip as dat mold features thin wire lure keeper but maybe the Plastisol Lunker City uses is much tougher than what folks realize.I have used variety of Lunker City soft plastics and have NEVER been disappointed in their performance,in fact, just the opposite and hope the Dead On Plastisol I got is even half as good as what Lunker City uses!!Probably won't have any custom hand-poured swimbaits by Friday but obviously do have good supply of jigheads ready to rip some lips(babies have ultra-sharp Mustad and Gamakatsu nickel hooks)told ya I don't play nice with specks and reds and flounders!!!If Sportsman's Warehouse open tomorrow, might get vinyl paints and re-stock powder paints and make few more jigheads(Trestles monster and Long Rocks monster awaits us,NO DOUBT)!!!Looks like ole Christobal more of a rain-maker,at least for us on NShore!!

Watching Fox 8 and gonna give Sportsman's Warehouse a shout around 9 to see if dey open and wanna pick up supply of powder paint(can't locate my supply)and also jighooks and vinyl jighead paint. They stock plenty of DIY stuff for making flies, lures, jigheads, etc.Hope CCAguns and I get great chance to 'field test' em and funniest story bout me making jigheads is the duck hunting buddy of mine dat I took out to Trestles bunch of years ago.He was INSISTING on getting right on top of other folks catching specks and I refused telling him dat was totally uncool(asked him how would he like a duck hunter setting up about 100 yards from him???)and we pecked away with me nabbing a bunch of Trestles fatties and he was getting hung up,breaking off bunch of my custom jigheads and he had de audacity to complain dat I purposely put him in spots with PLENTY snags, obstructions, etc!!!Had to laugh but I was not pleased and his problem was that he was NOT jigging like me and was letting jigheads lie on bottom way too LONG!!!My experience out at Trestles is that some of my bigger specks happen to come from under de minefield(makes sense as they lie in wait ambushing bait)!!Can't wait til waters recede and salinity levels get right!!

Salinity levels up around 12 in Rigolets according to Buoy. Got a few options for fishing Friday as wind will turn around to NE on Thursday after settling down Wednesday. Forecasting NE at 10 mph Friday so we'll discuss options when you're available.

Gotta thank de gent down in Houma for turning me onto Barlow's Tackle as they typically have better prices than others for the Do-It molds and he also has been great resource for tips on fashioning soft plastic swimbaits, dat gonna be next step and hope to have some soon.Taking Abita KC member to possibly sight-cast for reds in Lady P this Th,then definitely looking forward to getting with ya Friday!!Got all dem jigheads painted and will make a few more, leave em un-painted and did pick up some more Gamakatsu hooks just yesterday at Sportsman's Warehouse where I picked up few colors of vinyl paint.Got Guide buddy I wanna give few swimbaits to and let him do extensive'field test' and turns out he was one of the very first guides I was using way back when I was able to take doctors on some fine guided trips and he LOVES soft plastics,so much dat on MANY trips when rest of my clients were tossing live shrimp,he made sure to have me decent supply of Killer-Dillers,DOA's,etc.
