what is the best brand to have the fish finder, Navigation and radar All in one screen? Is it best to have 1 big screen or 2 separate smaller screens? i'm thinking 1 16' rather than 2 12' screens is what i want.

Re: GPS/Fishfinder all in one
I’ve had both lowrance and Garmin and I’ll never own a lowrance again. It would freeze up every time I used it. I deleted everything on it and it kept doing it. I know of three other people that it’s done the same or worse. It’s not very comforting when you’re out and don’t have your tracks to follow back in. My buddy kept having problems so much that in mid stride going about 40 unscrewed his unit and chunked it in the water,a 1500$ unit. I know there’s a lot of people that love them and have no problems with there’s and I’m glad for them but I’ll never own anything other than a Garmin, it’s like a Honda you can’t stop them,in my opinion.

troutbck,Yep some folks, like me,use and love Lowrance and some folks have had more than their share of issues with Lowrance and have gotten Humminbird or Garmin units.I have a Hook2-5 with Tripleshot(have Navionics chip)and it is INCREDIBLY accurate from duck hunting/fishing trips and the Navionics folks have what is called 'Community Edits' and that is an awesome feature as lots of folks constantly update via Community Edits and I have gotten some obstructions, etc uploaded that may NOT have been known to me and the Chart Screen lists Tide Stations with icons indicating rising/falling/slack tide conditions, again a neat feature.Guess the budget one has to work with and familiarity with electronic gadgets should guide one's decision and wish I had the bucks for Live Scope as that is the ultimate but can't see plunking down well over $1400 to have Panoptix.Just rigged up older Lowrance Elite basic unit for trolling motor unit and ran into gent a few months ago who had basic unit mounted in AR-15 magazine box and powered unit with 12 v rechargeable battery and I did same, with Plano gun box and padded the unit and battery with included foam rubber.Gonna test her out ASAP and already can see how useful it will be to have console-mounted DepthFinder/GPS and portable trolling motor unit.Because both units Lowrance units most likely operating on same frequencies, may have 'cross-talk' between units and MIGHT have to shut off console unit to avoid interference with trolling motor unit.Get lotta opinions and shop and compare then decide.Have lotta folks I know using and loving Lowrance but probably large contingent BLASTING Lowrance,go figure!!

When hooking up a new unit and have ?s they’re People are very quick and helpful oh and by the way, nice garden u got going on in the back yard!

troutbck,Thanks, kinda surprised at de lack of opinions but guess dat de nature of de beast. Thanks as well for compliments on garden,we pride ourselves in being as self-sufficient as possible and we go to extremes, setting up very fine greenhouse, shop for seeds and supplies and older son helps recoup some cost$ by selling plenty fine home-grown vegetables. Can't wait to check out installation of portable Lowrance unit up front(gonna be great for T-Funky sac a lait trips, especially now dat dem tasty critters down deep).Once I find some free time, after making ton of very fine jigheads, gonna start fun process of hand-pouring 3.5 and 4.0 inch custom swimbaits.Part of the allure of custom-crafting lures, jigheads, etc is just that, the custom nature and ask any tournament fisherman, lures off de shelf DO NOT cut it,no matter who the lure manufacturer(s)are!!!Older son and I in planning stages of Fall tomato gardens and we plan to try our best to have home-grown heirloom tomatoes well into Fall. One year we were harvesting Champion tomatoes well into December.

kevin11,Never did hear if ya found what ya were looking for.Since your post,I have mounted older very basic Lowrance unit on trolling motor and love having two units.Console unit features GPS and down/side scan and guess it would be nice to have that mounted on trolling motor but like it where it is.Ran into gent fishing T-Funky and he showed me neat installation of small depthfinder using AR15(guess ole Joe Biden calls em AR14's!!)magazine box and all ya need is rechargeable 12 v battery.Guy I talked to at Academy showed me the 12 v battery he used for his kayak and I also picked up inexpensive charger that works for both 6 and 12 volt rechargeable batteries.
