bow hunting

Does anyone have any tips on bow hunting public land? Mainly trying to find a good WMA to hunt.

Best advice I would give ya is to scour Google Maps, try to find a spot NOT easily accessible, except by boat or long pirogue/canoe paddle and see what transpires.Have some potentially promising spots but I am NOT about to put dem out there for ALL to see,if ya knows what I mean.We have PLENTY of WMA's and Federal Refuges to pursue archery hunts and this is prime time to do either Google Map scouting or boots and paddles scouting!!

Clear creek wma in Vernon parish is nice to hunt before rifle season. I’ve had good luck along the little redbank creek.

Any WMA in the state is pretty much empty early season. There are a few dedicated public land bow hunters out there, but they are few and far between. I’ve hunted RKY in Concordia parish for over 10 years and I can count on 2 hands how many other bow hunters I’ve seen in the woods early season. Good luck

Average Joe,I was gonna mention RKY as one of the guys we go to church with has bragged about not only the waterfowl hunting there but also the deer hunting. There are plenty of NWR opportunities both locally and in other parts of LA and I have heard some great things about a few WMA's like Maurepas Swamp and Joyce but my understanding is that the hunting is not for the faint-of heart in those two.
