Lake P challenge Saturday

Reply

TEAM JO-JO:

Nothing plan, no fisherpersons looking to go, so me decided to do a solo trip & hog all the fun & action of a Lake P challenge of fishing Eastofmrgo’ s 5 mile reef, (aka trestles) in search of the elusive Silverwonder & Redworries.

SIGNS:

• Coming off a great Thursday trip with Capt Anthony
• Bill William, (aka Oneofthepac2) talked his mom & dad into having a fish fry with all the fish he brought home from Thursday trip, they called me, but me was sound asleep all evening and night form the trip.
• Had a good work routine Friday, 2 pounds closer to me mile stone, long wat to go to goal.
• Up at 4 AM trying to decide what me wanted to do, and/or what area me wanted to fish, trestles won the decision as me be wanting to go out and see what me could see & learn of this area and this time of year.
• Quick load up of the Bay Flat Jr, stop for ice, at launch at south shore on Hwy 11 just at daylight.
• Bay Flat Jr slid into the water real easy
• Yamaha Nightmare Machine to 23 pulls to start her, me going to bring her in and get her serviced, maybe that will help.
• Quick 8-10 minute ride to the trestles
• Already had one boat anchored up on the west side
• Dropped the Lake P Troll rig over & started trolling along the trestles.

CONDITIONS:

• Perfect
• Wind , N.N.W 4-6 MPH
• Water, ripples to slight chop
• Sky, sunny & clear, a few clouds but too few to mention
• Temp, Mild, warm
• Water level, down 6-8”
• Water Temp,??????????????
• Salinity,?????????????
• Specific Conductance, ?????????????
• Water clarity on a scale of 1-7, a 10 PLUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
• Tide, slack tie nothing moving
• Boats out and about, saw 3 boats, all on Westside of trestles
• No bait in the water
• No birds feeding
• No activity in and around the water

REPERTOIRE OF TECHNIQUES / STRATEGIES:

• Be safe
• Have fun
• This be me daily therapy for ALL me aliments
• Put some run time on the Bay Flat Jr and the Yamaha Nightmare Machine
• Gather Intel for future trips, and to share with fisherperson, (on rodnreel.com) to help assist them in their choice of areas to fish, lures to use and presentation of same to the elusive Silverwonders.
• See:
o If there any catching action along trestles
o What the water looked like
o If they had any bait in area
o What the birds doing
o What technique / presentations being used
o What baits / lures to use

• Find a spot # with the seven fundamentals / criteria of catching:

1 WIND AT YOUR BACK: (wind not a factor me be trolling up and down trestles
2 MOVING WATER: (This criteria was me challenge, as me had a slack tide, no water moving at all
3 WATER CALRITY: (Another challenge, me was concerned that the water clarity would be real bad, but that to be, you could see lure down 4-5 feet, look like Florida Lake water, dark, clean, & clear.)
4 HOLDING FISH: (Kenny’s Sea Food)
5 PATIENTS: (None needed, it was just me be against the elements, elements won)
6 SKILL: (Knowing when to fold them, stopped trolling / fishing at 8:10 AM.
7 LUCK: (Living the life Loveofthepack & Oneofthepack worked for.

AREAS / SPOTS / NUMBERS ON THE MAP FISHED:

Spot # South shore side of lake P, up & down trestles, made , (out to 3rd fire break) (2) trolls on Westside, (2) trolls on Eastside, used Lake P Troll rig one way, and tandem rig the other way.

OUR REWARDS:

• Lived to fish another day
• (0) NMR Silverwonders,
• Skunked
• (3) snags / bottom, one popped line
• Saw one boat 1-2 miles south of the end of the train tracks at shore, they be fishing the rocks or grass beds.
• Got some early morning fresh air
• Got some sun shine on me bod
• Spending the morning on the water with 3 of the best fisherpersons me know, me, meself, & I
• Best fishing trip of my life, until the next one.

FISHERPERSON OF THE DAY:

Fishes take the honor today, they too smart to bite on what me had to offer.

SUGGESTIONS:

Me been wanting to try Lake P, had very low expectations, but me also know our moto, “You got to go to know” and now you to know conditions in Lake P south shore along trestles.

PONDER OF THE DAY:

By refusing to hold a position, (fishing in mind) on something, do you, by default, accept all positions or reject all positions?

Q&A:

Would the fishing world be a better place if all leaders were women?

TEAM JO-JO’S FUTURE STRATAGEM:

Monday trip with Big Bill of Eden Anglers, we be out and about down Delacroix way. Friday Big Allen will be abroad the Bay Flat Sr in search of the elusive Silverwodners & Redworries, until then.

Good Fishing
