Levee's

Reply
All over La. when they build levee's they have to be made of clay...Grand Isle builds levee out of sand and whenever a squall comes thru they need to rebuild the levee....Seems to me they should be required to build with clay and quit wasting money on sand levee's....It is clear what they doing AIN'T WORKING....

yes. and adding more big rocks will help also.

You can see the levee is nothing but pump sand ....Like who is getting kickbacks for this....They want to use pump sand fill them bags and make a levee out of that...Somewhere down the line this is nothing more than pissing tax payers dollars away...The corp of engineers doesn't allow this anywhere else for a reason....SAND LEVEE'S FAIL.....

If someone would look at Texas in Brazoria County, they beefed up the coast with huge rocks. The project took several years due to the size of these rocks. An 18 wheeler could only haul two at the time. The problem was solved and coastal erosion is down to a minimum. Of course no politics were involved. Your tax dollars at work.

You're correct. I talked to a guy yesterday from south Florida,an he said what was done where he's from is they trench down the middle of the levee 20-30' an back fill it with cement. Concrete makes the levee an material on either side makes a barrier for it. Since doing that he said no breaks in them jus maintenance the surface material. The trench makes the form for them to pour in the ground an build form above ground if needed. If it works elsewhere why they couldn't use it here. In comparison I guess it would be like Trump's wall but smaller scale.

Swamp lizard you right about that. I use to work that area at my previous job. I seen that project in the works. But alot of stuff in Texas goes through the railroad commission so it alot different than other states. Money stays out the hands of the crooks we call political leaders here.

If you look where the rocks were placed years ago by Andy valance straight out from Chigazola lane, it is all beach. Someone high makes the decisions to keep using sand. Trust me David Carmadele id passionate about saving Grand isle. but someone keeps making sand its number one priority. Just look at what was done this week sandbags that ended and nothing behind it to keep water from levee.

For the money that has been wasted over the last Thirty Years on Grand Isle A large rock breakwater barrier wall and back filled with clay We could have had a nice beach for many years Every year Grand Isle goes thru this waste of time

The reason why we do not have a rock barrier is simple-we continue to elect people that promise to do what the voter's are asking for and once in office a miracle occurs and they do not know you or what they promised. When we learn to hold them accountable by exposing their misguided attitude then we might obtain what was promised. I have made a lot of enemies but I will stand against the best for what is right. It is your money that is being wasted. We can change by not allowing this continue. The math will reveal the waste of dollars spent on sand and if you dig deep enough I am sure some relative owns a sand company and trucking service. It is time to expose this for the good of our coastal areas and seafood industry.

It is strange any where else you have to meet the requirements of the corp. To build a sand levee on the gulf shoreline is just stupid...And to rebuild it ,,,well the moderator might delete my post if I say....
