Teal Report

Reply
We spent the weekend chasing gators in the Delacroix marsh the past couple days. We did see a few nice flocks of teal. Along with a pair of wood ducks and plenty tree ducks, we saw teal in flocks of 30, 15, 8, 6, 4, and also a few singles. Hopping for more migrations in the next two weeks leading to the teal opening on 9/12. Bye the way, we removed 5 gators from the population ranging in size from just under 8ft. to over 10ft.

Thanks Proud Pop, I know your hooked up with the gators and good luck with the gators, we're seeing the same, one report from the lease Sunday is just about what we're seeing, enough to make it interesting, time to get camper back down to Delacroix.

Got two reports of birds seen over the weekend around Lake Borgne, there are a few around. Full moon today/tomorrow should move more and there are even a few little fronts in the forecast.

Bigger issue for, especially marsh hunters, is getting the ag fields in SE La dried up. Lots of sheet water in pastures and cane fields from the recent storms, scattering the birds that are around.

We saw some nice fights of teal yesterday. In my opinion more teal down here in SE Louisiana than the last few years. Of course that could all change by the time September 12 comes.

I hope we get more down with the full moon migration and fronts. Last year there were a good amount of teal on our Delacroix property 3 weeks before the season. They disappeared by the time the season came around. Will be back at the gators and blind brushing next weekend and will send another report.

Cool front scheduled for the 9th. Business should pick up then. I’m thinking the 17-20th will be the best of early teal. Good luck to all

Yep,Fronts and full moon aint gonna hurt!!!Like lotta folks, typically use Teal Season as preseason for Regular Duck Season and also like to tinker with different things like spinning wing decoys, various spreads, camo, etc and often what typically happens, get plans in place and doggone teal decide NOT to hit areas I have scouted only to show up in totally different spots and hate when same thing occurs in regular duck season.Nice to have a few eyes and ears dat shoot me text messages to give me intel that is invaluable.Had someone tell me dat teal were swarming in cow pastures on WBank, small ponds that held maybe 2 inches of water, max!!!This was last year and bet Billy Nungesser has tons of teal in his cow pastures!

It should be happening right now. This full moon and next weeks front should give us something to shoot at on the 12th. Fingers crossed!!!!

A buddy called me this morning and told me to meet him at Spanish lake on the 12th. He has been seeing small flocks of blue wings there since after Laura passed. Must be from SW Louisiana?
