Tropical Storm Beta Teal

Reply
Date 9/19/29

It rained on us from the time we left camp all through the hunt. Was not real enthused about the situation until daylight and teal started flying. It was a great hunt as three of us shot 18 teal. With all the high water and crazy weather we are fortunate the teal are still here.

I can report that the blue wings have flown the coop in the Amite River swamp. Seen plenty woodies but zero teal.

Mandevillian, look at you now! I don’t post much but I posted a couple years ago, when you just started duck hunting and you were letting everyone know about where you were killing ducks. I blasted you for giving up peoples’ spots that you just figured out as a grown adult, all of which had been hunted for decades by hunters who had been in that area for decades... now you are keeping your spots private because you don’t want random forum users to read your report then go exploit your areas? Hmmmmmmmm yep I remember that.

I don't know if there are any forum rules but if there are the first rule should be NEVER ask a person where they hunt or fish. That rule really applies for duck hunting where location is king. As noted in an earlier posit if you have ducks in the area most of us know what to do. It is not a matter of being greedy rather it takes a lot of work to get on the X and everyone has the same chance to get there if they put the work in. If location information is volunteered then so be it.

Bobrobglob,Sorry bud,but I have been hunting over 20 years my man, and I NEVER gave up the locations, ever, just generic posts about hunts in Federal/Public land and I used to get TONS of HATE e-mails,probably from folks like you who might get on Facebook, bragging bout their limits.Got news for ya,Bayoubob been hunting 40 years and I have at least 20 years of not only SCOUTING but doing what is reasonable to keep my spots under wraps, sorry if ya one dem Internet 'hunters' and I could give a tinker's damn about your OPINION!!!The way I see it,ya got an ax to grind and go grind it SOMEWHERE else, sorry bud but ya 1000% wrong, been hunting way longer than a FEW years, more like 20!!!Guess we need to re-name where I hunt Bobrobglog LAND!!!

Mandevillian, aint putting up with grief from ANYONE

I agree with not giving precise locations on any population of teal. Just giving a general report on private land of 'plenty' or 'none' isn't necessarily harmful. Public land is a different animal, and I understand why someone who is successful doesn't wish to divulge any secret locals or tactics. But if that is the case; then why get on whatever social media platform and give a report at all? Just soak it in and be satisfied that you put in the work and were successful. With that said; hope the water is down and the teal show up for tomorrow! We gon give it a try again, with or without any 'reports'.

Gaddie,Guess pride in outworking the Average Joe is what drives me and I have NEVER given exact locations,in fact, used to write monthly fishing report for another site and had two MORONS put EXACT GPS locations of extremely productive spot that USED to have trophy specks more reds than ya wanna catch and in certain times of year plenty flounders and big croakers. Bayoubob and I hope to round out last two days of Teal Season and debating on whether or not to post. The way I sees it,plenty of spots to hunt sometimes need folks strategically placed to keep ducks moving but HATE extra pressure on already-pressured Public land. Used to hit Pearl River but way too jammed with hunters have not hunted it ONCE this teal season may tinker with it in Regular Duck Season. Thanks and lotta folks used to try to refer me to Facebook but have thus far resisted.

Hope everyone does well, Food Plot Time won't make last weekend, I'll have to keep my addiction in check till November, Good Luck

Yep deer food plot time indeed and will post recap of Teal Season 2020 once season ends due to exactly what I have said way too many inquiring folks NOT wanting to put in time plus where I hunt ANYONE can hunt they just can’t use mud boats, etc and can only hunt few days during week and week ends. Just got off phone with deer club president and few members have chipped in to fix HUGE ruts that may have held wood ducks. Love my Public Land hunts if ya spend de requisite time learning spots NOT readily accessible. Tremendous satisfaction getting successful hunts with sometimes a trophy duck or two. Can’t imagine my pride MANY years ago when my older son and I bagged banded Jake in Sherburne WMA👍😎

Cursed from the start, lease partner overslept, need to get gas, 100 fishing boats in line - dekes hit the water at 6:55. Results: 1 BW, 2 Gallinule. I feel like I can publicly say 'dare ain't no teal in Delacroix'!

Since today LAST day of 16 day teal season once I get home and possibly before watching what I hope to be great game tonight might as well give little indication of how De Nuck and Futz Duo been doing. Right now I am sitting at four teal today went four for four all on fly with my older son’s fine Russian 20 gauge O/U. Nuck at three and we gonna fish after probable 8:30 cessation. Think our totals up to 38 teal on six hunts both limited opening day and been steadily shooting few each hunt save for last Sat.
