Annual Ozarks Getaway 2020

Reply
Tried to post report and attach fine pics but not sure what transpired!!Wifey and I spent some quality time up in Yellville,Arkansas on our annual and soon-to-be twice a year Ozarks vacation and wanted to at least recount our fine and timely trip.We had short window of opportunity to get away just ahead of Medicare Annual and Open Enrollment and think we gonna make two trips a year up to stunning Ozarks!!Left Mandeville this past Th around 4:30 pm getting us to Ozarks in perfect time to grab breakfast at ole-time diner in Batesville(home of famous Rob Roberts Gunsmiths-they are considered gurus of not only custom choke tubes but also do exemplary work on water-transfer camo-did awesome job on my original Beretta Extrema about three years ago-still looking like brand new).Hit world-famous Cotter Trout Dock just after nice older retired couple had wrapped up catching their 10 rainbow limit and fishing,at least that day,was epic with me catching a nice rainbow on very first cast, nabbed three more, lost em and then nabbed 4 very quickly, took a tad longer to get 5th fish(was my best trip of entire vacation)!!Guess it was providence that we met this couple as they fish exact spot every day, donate lotta fish to members of their church and they donated a bunch of rainbows to us to ensure that we came home with PLENTY of fine rainbows!!!Took great Buffalo River Canoe trip Sunday after hitting Ozark Folk Center on Sat and Buffalo was stunning as well and we saw plenty deer, few river otters and plenty of wood ducks, guess they making their migration S!!!Hit Cotter Trout Dock just about every day and most days was a struggle,at least for me as I toss Rebel crawfish crankbaits(lethal most days)and the locals use lotta PowerBaits, not my cup of tea but VERY effective and we were the beneficiaries of some very fine and generous Ozarks residents(guess Wifey and I need to get us a piece of dem Ozarks before too long)!!!Weather was more than incredible and everyone we spoke to suggested we stay up in dem fine mountains vs heading towards Hurricane Delta!!!Ended up coming home with 24 fine rainbows, some big enough to filet and on Sun we managed to catch 5 smallmouths, none quite big enough to keep and caught a few Pumkinseed perch, beautiful fish that get smashed by bigger predators!!!When we decide to call it quits from Medicare Consulting, might seriously consider getting a nice cottage up there, guess I would miss my salt water fishing and Ranger boats built in Flippin, very close to Cotter. They offer free tours of their facility in Flippin and heard through the grapevine dat lotta folks got laid off at Ranger boats!!!What a shame as that would be serious blow to their economy!!!Now back to reality of work, work, more work and got lotta work to do on deer food plots and have been hearing phenomenal reports of local speck and red fishing trips, gotta make time for shoreline and grassbed trips!!!Hope we all fare OK for this latest storm and living up in Ozarks has its blessings but would definitely miss salt water trips, guess Summer cottage might be in de works, once we might call it quits!!

Sounds like you and the wifey had a great trip. Were the leaves changing colors up there in northern Arkansas yet? Me and a neighbor headed to Bayou Lacombe in the morning before storm and try to find some specs and reds on Northshore of Lake. May evacuate up to my Quack Shack near Lake Village, Arkansas on Thursday to do some bow hunting on my deer/duck lease there and bass fishing on Lake Chicot. Better than sitting around here with no power. Got report that the speckled belly geese have arrived up there on the freshly cut rice fields. Early goose season just couple weeks away!

GB3,Keep forgetting to respond to ya request bout de leaves changing up in dem ultra-fine Ozarks.Yes,the leaves were starting their annual color change and we saw a ton of deer both on the ride up there and certainly once we got to Yellville,AR.On way back home,we choose a different route, this one through Little Rock and right near de Quack Shack!!Think this may be epic Regular Duck Season and can't wait to not only get after it on deer club but also chase some Lake P fish(Dat Marsh Marn needs to leave MY spots alone)!!!Just yanking his chain, love stirring dat pot and did have a gent(many years ago)wanna jump aboard de ole SouthFork and tag along Go-Pro(no way gonna give up fine red and speck spots)and just bout every year have someone ask to tag along on duck trips(same situation, aint gonna happen, sorry)!!!Wifey and I getting lotta work done on my mom's Kenner rental and mighty windy here in ole Kennner!!Wifey and I gonna spend tonight at my mom's house and getting up early to get back after more work on de rental!!Thanks for sharing pics of reds from SO CLOSE to home!!Stay safe and de Nuck and Futz Duo very much looking forward to Round #2 with de Quack Shack ducks!!!Tell Ms Loretta hello from Wifey and I!!!
