Reply
10/27/20 - While at my camp at Lake Catherine yesterday evening around sunset I saw at least a dozen big V's of grey ducks heading toward toward Biloxi marsh. They were high in the sky and it was a lot of them.

La NiƱa winter, we may even see an oldsquaw or two on the coast. Should be a wild duck season here in Louisiana, we need it.

Well they're in biloxi marsh (for now) 'til this flippin' storm comes ripping through there this evening. Ughhhhh Thanks for the report anyway; good luck all with your camps, boats, homes, etc.

Can only hope friday's front brings reinforcements in, also another front early next week.

Not sure what got me yesterday, but while at our Medicare Booth, around 2-3 felt like someone had punched me in lower left abdomen and started getting cold sweats,Wifey looked up common symptoms of food poisoning and might indeed be de cuplrit-hated prospect of ER visit just prior to storm but got home, climbed into bed, after few episodes of vomiting, and Wifey applied some Real Time Pain Relief creme(got it at LA Sportsman Show few years ago)and that doggone stuff allowed me to get great night sleep.Hope and pray that everything ok with me and certainly praying for our safety-figured out where we gonna head-brother-in-law has Body and Fender Shop in Holden, same place we evacuated to for Katrina and this is super-sturdy building with big I-beams to support roof.Think my bout with whatever about over, thankfully, but lingering abdomen pain has me worried!!

dredger,Very good chance I know ya pops as for 27 years,I was a Pharmaceutical Sales Rep,loved the Bayou area, have a BA in Biology from UNO,Dec'80 was when I graduated and know de ole body fairly well and have been to ER exactly twice in past 40 years, one when I sliced tip of left index finger(not a duct tape fix)and most likely got bitten by brown recluse spider(ER doc asked me what I THOUGHT-always thought they do the DIAGNOSIS)!!!What it most assuredly was happens to be severe case of food poisoning, ate what we typically enjoy, sushi at Tangi sushi joint(not gonna totally blame folks BUT aint getting no more dat sushi)at least NOT from them.Lucky us survived Zeta with Zero damage and did have power outage-got generator cranked up,mostly for fridge and freezer(lotta wild game in dat chest freezer)and funny story here-not sure what the heck was going on in Covington Lowes as when I got there this afternoon, saw at least 4 firetrucks, couple firemen went inside with full gear and I decided to head to Wally World(asked few employees what was going on-they said mysterious fire!!!).Got to Wally World-dey closed tight as a drum, finally went to Steve's Ace Hardware and picked up two heavy-duty outdoor extension cords, got home and power had been RESTORED-guess we were extremely fortunate!!!

P.S. Chatted with none other than Dave Raggio, owner of Autoglass in Covington,Wifey and I needed to get replacement windshield for Jeep Compass and he advised me of INCREDIBLY effective soft plastic, made in Kaplan,Kajun Lures!!!

Well, whats the word on the Lower St. Bernard/Plaq parish marshes post Zeta? i saw some pics from Delacroix and it's a damn mess down there. I saw a few pics with substantial piles of marsh grass all over the road. I hope the marsh didn't roll up like carpet like Katrina. Hoping we have something left to hunt this season.

Saw a few grays today down in lower hopedale and into delacroix, marsh not as bad as I feared it might be. Still some feed here and there so hope others make out OK. Most of our blinds made it, thankfully. Watch out for barely-floating storm debris like lumber, old pilings, etc., picked up a few things today I was fortunate not to hit.

Think we all might be a tad surprised at the migrations currently being reported.Have not seen any greys on NShore but if they are in Lake Catherine area, not dat far of a flight from dat area to NShore Marshes!!Saw some fine woodies today in Honey Island Swamp and they are very fine Plan B!!Got neat area holding plenty of woodies just not the easiest of retrieves without yak or pirogue(dog would be ideal, here)!!!
