De ole bodies getting worn down and wanted to get to area where ducks seem to ALWAYS emerge from around first light and made de long paddle, grass where we hunt more than incredible, just a shame that more big ducks do not stick around long(saw three huge flocks this past Wed and guess they already sipping margaritas in Mexico).First duck to come in appeared to be teal, dropped it in its tracks(turns out to be scaup)!!!Dat was all I had to shoot this am,did have nice pair of mallards and pair of greys fly between us and Ole Nuck dropped greenhead of mallard pair, texted me fine pic and little later watched him drop drake then hen grey. She made fatal mistake of soaring back in and we hunt probably well over 750 yards apart and I typically stand entire hunt, hidden by tall palmetto branches,so very easy for me to scan the marsh and treelines looking for willing participants.Heard some tree line shots and actually looking forward to nice break so I can rest de shoulders and arms,we hunt ole-school all de way.Hope springs eternal and older son chomping on de bit for Second Split hunts and can't wait to get him back to ole haunts where we destroyed mallards, widgeons, greys, teal though widgeon and grey take past handful of seasons been extremely weak!!!Thank God our Saints beat dem Dirty Birds and made rest of our week end tolerable.Good news for me in that I make 62 this coming Friday and Wifey and I planning a fish assault outta Cane and we only have to shell out $3 for her, kinda ridicuous to have to pay for dirt launch with virtually ZERO amenities(unless one counts as an amenity Portalet, gimme a break).Hope other diehard hunters fared out well and like I said, hope springs eternal!!!Hope Wifey and I nab some fine fish this coming Friday!!
