De Nuck and Futz Duo-Honey Island Woodie Hunt 12 28 20

Reply
After suffering through way too many DNF hunts in marsh,we decided a change of venue was necessary and de Nuck and Futz Duo hit Honey Island Swamp, tagged along lil yak for possible retrieves and for decoy placement and we did see probably 30 woodies, none quite close enough to bag,and after our hunt we scoped out a few more sloughs with decent potential and we chatted with regular who loves Honey Island Swamp and gave us tips on not only where to go but how to access these areas.Quite possible where we decided to hunt has had lotta pressure and also quite possible a leisurely paddle through one of the numerous sloughs would yield some decent hunting(who knows may sneak up on hog/deer and maybe some fat tree rats)!!Probably gonna hit ole stand-by this Wed,not sure about Th.

Was joking with none other than John Manion today saying dem woodies need to find some A(corn)s!!!Funny thing is that many years ago,ran into none other than de Duck Commander hisself,at LA Sportsman's Show and he was telling a story bout an encounter with bunch of Cajuns dat told him dey needed no decoys or calls to get dem ducks and he was totally perplexed and asked em how dey do dat-to which dem wily Cajuns said,'Corn!'

Wiz,Can't blame ole Phil but he most definitely suffers from same issues we have a tad S of him and just check with GB3 to see how wonderful his SE Arkansas season has been!!!Guess floods last year caused delaying of planting of corn up N and some LA duck hunters had decent seasons!!Good news is that we found very nice flocks of woodies, just have to get em to cooperate and not sure why the entrance to Oil Well Rd locked but that is one area that has big ponds with what used to be massive flocks of woodies!!Nick and I have a few more Marsh hunts in us,gonna see what SE winds do to replenish low water and should be able to access tree-line ponds where I hope to find some mallards,if nothing else!!Lotta fun bunch of years ago when certain hard-to-access ponds got huge influx of greenheads and I was able to cash in on numerous hunts!!
