Another Duck-Less NShore Hunt 1 23 21

Bayoubob and I did the usual pre-duck hunt prep and made sure to scope out Wunderground and forecast was spot-on,just another duck-less NShore hunt, getting to be de norm vs exception and might have just a few more of these before we calls it quits and toss in de white pelican towel(seems like once de dreaded white pelicans start flying, ducks aint flying, whatever ducks we got)!Wifey and I got helm and steering cable replaced Th and today was the test to see how well we did and the ole SouthFork has NEVER steered this effortlessly!!!Lady P is stunning, though a tad low and we were able to access our ole stand-by ponds each of us got set up well ahead of legal shooting time and I had an awesome island picked out and had Chapman pirogue expertly camo'd with about 21 fine palmetto branches-texted Bayoubob bout 10 minutes prior to legal shooting time and advised him dat I was carrying on conversation with mottled duck hen, never a bad sign, particularly this sad season when I have killed twice as many mottled ducks as I have killed greys!!!Not too long after legal shooting peered up from blind, spotted fine mottled duck solo headed just on fringe of shooting range, fired two rounds, connected with third and hit fine mottled duck at least twice on water and once more as it jumped across patch of marsh and it was a gone pecan!!!Had no other ducks come anywhere near other than mottled ducks that landed over 60 yards out,no chance at them!!!Gonna give yet another spot a try tomorrow and Lake P is stunning-can't wait for sad season 20/21 to mercifully end so I can concentrate on specks, reds, flounders, possibly fine striped bass and largemouth bass PLUS T-Funky delectable sac a lait!!!Heard very little shooting and too bad I was not able to get today's fine mottled duck, about the only species we saw flying today and did not even spot any deer on way to launch, highly unusual!!!Guess signs of miserable duck season-hope crawfish season turns out awesome and got plenty deep-water,hand-made nets ready for nabbing fine and fat mudbugs!!!Hope Honey Island Swamp yet again loaded up with fat and sweet lobster-sized mudbugs!!!

Three of us hunted today and shot 6 dosgris and 2 ring necks. All divers continue but at least we are shooting some ducks holding our nose while doing it.

At least ya got waterfowl to shoot count ya lucky stars. Got me fine natural blind might shoot pic once legal shooting comes and goes. Spot I am in looks incredible and might harbor mottled ducks and mallards with possibly few tree ducks as lagniappe.

Can't seem to get original post I keep trying to report-here is gist of yet another duck-less hunt went.Bayoubob and I struggled mightily yesterday to even see a duck, other than resident mottled ducks, heard good bit of shooting S of us,maybe those lucky hunters were on proverbial,'X' but all I spotted, besides colonies of gallinules-their season ended over two weeks ago,was mottled ducks, lucky to get em in range!!!Had to vent,EVERYONE knows fully well what has been allowed to transpire, get more than used to MT skies!!!Maybe, had I blinded up in spot I picked two weeks ago mighta had chance at solo mottled duck of pair that came right over where I shoulda been hunkered down!!!
