Turkey Hunt best WMA

Just looking for advice from someone. Me and a couple friends will be turkey hunting for the first time this season. I was just curious if anyone had suggestions on WMAs to hunt at for turkey. We've been hunting at sherburne for deer/hog, but doubtful on the turkey population there from what I've been reading.

Bayoubow, Clear Creek WMA has a good turkey population and I have had a lot of fun on that place. It does get hunted hard but you can find gobblers all over that area. We have camped out and enjoyed our hunting there in past years. Walk the logging roads looking for sign and listening. Good luck!

I’ve seen turkeys while duck hunting on the small portion of Maurepas swamp wma located in French Settlement. It’s only about 1100 acres but does have some hardwoods located off King George bay road. I’ve hunted the edge of the swamp for wood ducks and had turkeys walk pass me feeding under the oaks.

Steelsprayer,Awesome news about wild turkeys in the Maurepas Swamp WMA.I really should do some scouting there as I understand not only does it hold some woodies but deer,squirrels,and now that ya mention it,turkeys as well.Pearl River has a lottery and Wifey and I put it down as one of our choices and we did get selected for Sherburne,at one time,possibly one of the finest of all LA WMA's in terms of turkey populations but has fallen on extremely hard times lately!!

P.S. Big Branch has quite a deer population-one duck season,many seasons ago,spotted herd of does splashing in shallow marsh!!

LETUMGROW, appreciate the advice I will be sure to check out clear creek wma. Actually going make a hunt/camping trip in GA April 1-11. So ill have plenty of time to come home and check out what clear creak has to offer. Thanks again!

My family enjoys this activity but we often do it before thanksgiving to avoid the crowd. It has been so much fun!
