Hope this report goes through, been having issues with site!!Wifey and I thoroughly enjoyed our three-day stay in New Roads(small hotel on 190 in Livonia booked up)and we really did not adequately scout Sherburne but did manage to not only catch a few fish but found wing feather of wild turkey, chatted with a few regulars(one turkey hunting)and we likewise found what may be excellent area to try next chance we get.Bottom line is we arrived tad late Friday evening, checked into Cypress Inn in New Roads and did make the drive to Sherburne to make sure it was not closed due to flooding pretty much everywhere around!!Sat am we made de executive decision to fish Little Alabama, try our best to find fine well-marked trail where many years ago I bagged banded jake but think storms and high water destroyed landing where we routinely docked flat.Found turkey feather, made mistake of telling hunter(guy hunting W side of Little Alabama)where we found feather and wonder of wonders,he was camped out near where we wanted to hunt. Not a big deal as this area was wide open, looking like prime wild turkey habitat with hardwoods everywhere and plenty of clearing so turkeys coulld see for miles!!!Wifey caught nice blue gill Sat,I struck out fishing and we came back Sun,ready to see if we could get ole Tom to rattle de woods!!Set us up in nice spot,Wifey sat behind big tree and I set out hen and jake decoy, slowly walked woods with box call, hoping to hear gobbler but quickly assessed situation and walked back,Wifey and I cut turkey hunt short and she and I fished our way back to launch with me catching two small perch!!Oh well, another Sherburne Turkey Season has come and gone but there are signs of life.Young fellow fishing told us few years ago he spotted flock of about 20 hens and another gent, fishing with his son, told us he has camp in area and his mom heard some turkeys!!

Yep,just finding not only that feather but also finding some fairly large tracks gets me excited for next season.Had we had the time we mighta stayed another night in New Roads and hunted the Non-Lottery portion of Sherburne's very short season.Time for speck and red and flounder fishing, sandwiched in with some T-Funky sac a lait trips.Doggone weather been non-cooperative!!
