Made the long haul from Baton Rouge to Pointe aux Chenes, Tuesday. Met one of my uncles for what we were hoping to be a good day of putting slot reds in the boat. The day started off fast and furious chasing undersized specks under birds. Was a lot of catching, but, not much keeping. When the birds tapered off, we hit the marsh for redfish and had a hard time locating them. We ultimately pulled up behind a po-pier and fished bottom with fresh shrimp we picked up from the owners. With that, we caught a bunch of bay snapper and black drum in a variety of sizes from undersize to supersize. We managed the occasional croaker, which, ultimately ended up hooked in another part of its body and tossed back out, which never failed to result in 36 to 38 inch bull reds. We tagged the reds and released healthy, and, released healthy all of the black drum. Ultimately, brought home a handful of specks and a nice little mess of bay snapper which we love to eat. But, like everybody else, not a big fan of cleaning them!
