Pearl River

Does anyone have any advice on hunting pearl river wma for ducks?

I would like to go duck hunt out there, but have never been. I have a 16'x48' semi v with a 48 SPL.

Are there a lot of logs or shallow waters to watch out for?

Is the duck hunting there even good?

Any insight would be appreciated.

LA Av8or,De Nuck and Futz Duo used to routinely hunt the lower Pearl, launching at the last launch before the MS state line and we always shot a few, mostly teal though sometimes shot a few fine greys and very few widgeons.Take a look at Google Maps and see what that fine set of trenasses and ponds tosses ya way, might be pleasantly surprised.Gotta let ya know lotta mud boats out there just be careful navigating that Pearl River and be prepared for company!!Good luck!!

Pearl River is full of ducks, but more people than anything else. We used to hunt there exclusively, now just hunt last 2 weeks of season when most people get tired of jockeying for position.

Game warden told me he started patrolling week before opening to show presence, wrote more tickets first 2 weekends than ever in his career. Please be safe, I am more worried about people without lights on boats than I am logs.

Good luck.

Bracki7,Thanks for the intel, pretty much stay away from the Pearl unless it is late-season much after the Opening Day madness out there. One time, many years ago,had to just about park on Hwy 190 there were that many tow vehicles!!

Seems this is not active as before. I also don't have a clue what's going on here.
