Looked at predicted wind and feel-like temp and kinda figured there would be little to no competition and was right on track.Arrived at de Swamp right at 4 :00 am,slowly entered and was at launch well before anyone else and slowly made my way to exact island I hunted this past Th,texted GB3 and he sent me awesome pic of his mallard haul yesterday evening and I was keeping de ole body warm with generous supply of coffee and thick waterfowl outerwear kept frigid elements at bay!!!Patiently awaited legal shooting time and similar pattern unfolded today-had shot at fairly long-range solo and not long later another solo flew by,this one got hit twice but not quite good enough to fall and ducks were dive-bombing fairly consistently, trouble was they were incredibly silent, finally cashed in on nice hen that did come home with me.Fellows next to me did fire a number of rounds as did fellow between us and not sure if either hunt party cashed in!We all departed bout the same time, round 7:15 am and had I been a tad more vigilant, possibly coulda had one or two more woodies.Took note of where the most consistent wood duck activity came from and plan a return trip tomorrow!!!Can't wait to get older son to smoke some more waterfowl and he did a superb job on large snow I shot in Lake Village Tues(tag-team effort,no doubt)!!GB3,mighty fine greenies ya sent me pic of!!
